Worst Game of the Year 2015 - WGOTY!

Why so? We've had a right laugh on this over the last few weeks. I haven't played the original RS games, but this been a great cheap game that's been a welcome change of pace from BF4. In fact we've not even played the latest update because of RSS.

I don't know how you can put those two games in the same sentence.

Evolve was a buggy, DLC ridden game with hollow mechanics that didn't come anywhere near the promises it made. Right from the open alpha it was obvious that it wasn't going to come up with the goods. It's a totally worthy call for WGOTY.

Fallout 4 whilst I admit is somewhat buggy for some (although with potentially hilarious results, and personally I've only had 1 crash to desktop in 50+ hours), it is by far the superior game. How long did you put in to it? It's massive, like huge. 50+ hours and I've still not explored the southern reaches of the map and I've hardly scratched the surface with companion quests etc. The crafting/upgrades system for armour, weapons and power armour adds a nice twist to it and combat is much improved over FO3.

I would consider Evolve superior I had some fun nights with a few friends. Fallout 4 on the other hand is a joke compared to modern masterpieces.

Fallout 4 looks dated, is buggy and clunky but it is still a really good game despite these flaws, it is compelling and engaging and offers a great amount of freedom.

Evolve is just dire all round!

Yeah I'd agree with that sentiment, which is why I think it's far from being classified as "worst". Particularly when Evolve is used as a comparator.

Because Fallout 4 is as much as an RPG as Farcry and beyond bland. Look at what the polish guys achieved with the witcher 3 and a much smaller budget. The engine is also ancient and Stalker SOC from 2007 blows it away a far as post apocalyptic games go.

Batman Arkham Knight, you could only convince yourself it ran ok if you are running TX/Ti.

Yup, I was always amused by those "it runs ok for me, it's far from broken" comments from people with SLI Titan Xs or Tis:p

Regarding the worst games of the year, I'd say Arkham Knight and Just Cause 3. I had/have huge problems with both. AK has been fixed a bit but it's still quite an unremarkable game IMO, it never managed to really grip me. Just Cause 3 still remains unplayable for me.

Personally I don't see those as faults, so Bethesda have more money to throw at development or are less efficient than a hungry smaller studio... So it doesn't fit into a typical RPG pigeon hole...

I haven't played Witcher 3 but it's on my list, even if it was the best game ever I still don't think I could use it as justification to say X or Y was the worst game ever.

If FO4 had a 2 hour plot line with day one pay to win DLC then fair enough, or if it was a hollow DLC-esque edition of an established franchise then I'd agree. But it's none of those things is it? The point I'm trying to make is that there are games that have been released this year with such "features" that would be a far more worthy owner of said title. One of which you've already mentioned.

Seeing as they just gave themselves a best mmo of 2015 award even tho it was released last year I would like to nominate eso.

Grinding 2 weeks for 1 basic random white mat (potency runestone) in pve when pvp players only have to do 5 minutes to earn a choice of which mat they want.

BiS jewellery for pve always being from pvp.

Essential pve skills only being grinded through stupid amounts of grinding pvp.

& to cap it all off theyre going to give pvpers pve rewards for pvping, but not pve'rs pvp rewards for pve.

Is this a riddle? Is there a prize?

It's interesting to me the umber of games being listed here as "Worst of the Year" are also the flagship releases.

Fallout 4
Battlefield 4 / Hardline
Batman: Arkham Knight
Just Cause 3
SW Battlefront
MGS V

I mean, I'm willing to admit standards for huge releases are slipping... but ALL those flagships are worst? Like, barely an Indie Title in sight? It kinda hums as people being disappointed, rather than actual worst. Worst suggests those games have literally no redeeming qualities.

Witcher 3 is a fantastic game, when you get around to playing it I am sure you will enjoy it. :)

I think I have about 30 hours in Fallout 4 so far and I am still really enjoying it, its not the best game on a technical level but graphics don't make a game, its fun and interesting and time seems to fly by when I play it which is a good indicator of enjoyment.

Wow some people saying MGS V is it that bad? Not bought it yet..

It's awful, the intro mission is outstanding and gets you gripped. Then it's just going to the same town in a desert over and over to rescue some guy that keeps getting caught. All so that you can research new weapons that you do not need as the game is so easy it's unbelievable. Walk in and shoot everyone in the foot with the tranquilliser pistol and watch them all just drop to the floor.

Fallout 4 was a massive let down for me, the building is garbage and shouldn't be in a game like Fallout. The story line and factions are boring and it's just "These 3 groups don't like each other, pick one." Being able to level your SPECIAL stats ruined it too, you constantly think "Oh, I'll just come back when my charisma is 10.".

Probably Fifa 16 from a personal standpoint. Even when I get ****ed off at Fifa I tend to still enjoy it but this year I just can't play it I hate it that much.

Personally, it's probably my favourite game this year (along with Dirt Rally GTA V and, to a degree, Witcher 3). Love the base building, gathering resources, recruiting soldiers and developing new gear ( and there's loads of it). You can use a variety of tactics and that Kojima craziness makes the game quite unique (Fulton and all the over the top stuff). There's lots of details and secrets many people haven't ever discovered because they don't experiment with the the stuff at their disposal. The ability to develop weapons/gear is there for a reason:p

I guess it's kinda easy if you're happy with alerting the enitre base and getting a low rank. But going in and shooting everyone in the foot with the tranq gun just won't work:p

I know the game isn't perfect and I respect your opinion but the way you put it is a massive oversimplification, and quite harsh at that.

It's like saying that everything you do in Witcher 3 is running between villages/doing errands for people/killing monsters/playing Gwent and collecting gear you won't ever need because the game is really easy and you're probably already overlevelled:p And it's all true but it's still easily one of the better games this year. The game was supposed to be an RPG and it fails at that due to terrible leveling problems and pointless loot but people overlook that because it's still a very nice experience. I didn't like it that much but many seem to love it. It's getting 9s and 10s everywhere, just like MGS V.

I have been lucky this year that I have avoided many of the major let downs.

Only game i'm having issues with is Rainbow Six Siege, which seem mainly down to 'netcode' issues. Although it dosent really deserve to be on the list of worst games as once that is sorted out then it is a good game with some interesting ideas at its core.

GTA 5. Console version is a 2014 release and superior, the PC version (2015) kinda sucks. No online except hackers, insane loading screens for online compared to consoles and poor performance (better than 4 but it still runs bad). It also handles horribly on KB+M and had wonky driver issues on both colors for a while.

There are no doubt worse releases this year but that's the one I personally enjoyed the least out of the games I've gotten this year for PC.

The tranquillizer does work though, as shooting people in the foot doesn't alert them. They then take a few seconds to drop, so long as you are quick enough with your aim and shooting people will fall to sleep well before they get a chance to be alerted by the other guys falling to sleep. It's quick, easy and gets you a good rank. As the rank only really accounts for time taken as nothing else really gives good score.

You just end up going to the same places, doing the same mission, with the same weapons over and over. There is loads to research but it's in most cases literally exactly the same gun but with a scope or silencer added. Which ends up pointless as if you kill enemies you are handicapping yourself as you can't staff your base.

Yes, you have choice, but only one of those choices is actually useful.

At least in Witcher 3, (my opinion) the story is actually decent, the quests differ enough to keep you interested, I literally did the same mission about 11 times in MGS, same guns, same enemies, same town and the same objective. In MGS the main story is you trying to get revenge, only maybe 5/10% of the game is actual story, the rest is knocking people out to staff a base to research pointless weapon upgrades. Yey! I rescued this same guy from this same base 5 times and recruited 30 people. Now I can finally put a silencer on this gun I never use, because if I actually use it the guy I shot will die and I can't recruit him to research a scope for another gun I never use.

Don't get me started on how much better the story, quests, characters, dialogue, environment and graphics are in Witcher 3. I had much more fun doing just the Bloody Baron quests in Witcher 3 than I did my entire time spent in MGS.

EDIT: Obviously all of this is my opinion and I respect you may like different things.

I played TPP and thought it was good, the story was lackluster and most of the game clearly never got finished towards the end but the issues you are brining up are 100% player choice. Personally I snook through bases strangling people with the wolf and sometimes Quiet. If you choose to abuse the tranq then you are simply limiting your own enjoyment. 'Its there so I'll use it' excuse most people use for OP things in single player games doesn't stick here either. If something is ruining your enjoyment why carry on doing it?

One thing I wish the game had was unequippable primary weapons. Never used it once and took away from the immersion of my playstyle having a great big M4 nailed to Snake's ribcage.

The boss battles were great too, as few as there was. MGS3 was a far superior game though.
