X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

Unless its changed, i dont use ut's. The ship needs at least 1 25mw shield and a jump drive to become a UT.

I like carman super freighters, reasonable speed and lots of cargo space.

A univeral trader just needs to be level 8, shields and jumpdrives arent needed.
A Universal trader can't use the jumpdrive until it reaches level 15.

Sector traders can't travel through gates until level 5 and can only travel through a maximum of about 4 or 5 gates at level 25.

Shields/weapons for traders are a waste of money. Traders are vulnerable as long as the Xenon in Zyarth's Dominion and Scale Plate Green are free to roam.

Thats why i dont use them, cant afford to lose traders in my current game.

Im playing a never buy any ships game. Every ship i need i have to aquire by other means;)

so far ive got, that ive bothered to keep.

2 M1's
2 M2's
2 TL's
1 M7M
2 M7's
2 HCP's
30 ish M5-M3's (started building complexes so i can equip them an make use of my carriors)
20 ish TS's

oh and 1 TP / M8.

I've started playing this again on a newer save. Just got a Split Heavy Dragon. Niiiice ships without being OTT like the springblossom and the Hyperion.

This is the first time I've managed to be making any money through trading, I've built stations in the past but they always lost money (so I gave up - or just built ones that made weapons for me to make them easy to get)
Have 5-6 TS ships doing sector trading. Not making megabucks yet, but apart from the fully kitted out Mercury Super Freighter (most recently ship) they've all paid for themselves :)

Just got this amazing game last week on a whim (half price steam sale), and loving it. Currently have 10 mercury traders making me rich (15mil atm) while I search for the ultimate ship for pirate smashing. Great game but the UI designer needs to be shot.

I have so much still to do and to find out, should I be bothering with any mods at this point?

My current favorite is the Teladi Shrike,

http://roguey.freewha.com/gaming/pc/x3t/ships/get_ship.php?id=160

You can take on anything with it, fleets of fighters will just get vaporised by its flaks while capitals will be blasted to sheds by its gause cannons.:D

If you fancy geting down and dirty you can jump into a docked fighter, or just keep a wing on standby if you want.

All this and a massive cargo bay for scooping up all the nice left overs floating in space after you have wiped out a sector.:p

The Split Tiger is more fun than the Shrike though. Looks better and faster :D

Left/Right turrets can take IBL's as do the front firing guns. 12 IBLs firing forwards makes a right mess of anything. Plus all the turrets will mount flak so it will rip fighter swarms to shreds on its own. :D

But it cant dock any fighters :(

How long can it keep those 12 IBL's fireing before it runs out of energy?

Remember the Shrike can fire 8 IBL's and 4 GC's. So its has same amount of forward firepower except the GC's wont run out of energy half way thru the battle.

I played X3 ages ago, loved the game, had a nice little empire as well.

I've lost my disc but all this talk in Terran Conflict has got me interested again, but I have a few questions, I'm too lazy to go through all 20 pages.

Is Terran Conflict a stand alone game?

Is it worth me repurchasing X3 if I didn't bother to complete the story?

Is Terran Conflict more demanding, hardware wise?

Yes!

No!

Yes! But not by much.

How to gain rating? I accepted a mission and didn't realise teh conquences. I'm not a Boron antagonist.
And know 1/2 y ships are stranded on the wrong side of there universe and only way back is through boron space.

Now do I just have to do any mission be it the white lightbulb or the combat one, from any station in a boron sector (still allowed into the fringe borron systems). Or does it have to be from a boron station like equipment/trading post.
Not many pirates in the sectors, so can't do it that way.

As long as the mission is accepted from inside boron space it will count toward your reputation. Try a few station defence missions (red combat symbol usually), this will spawn pirates for you to kill.

Better yet get yourself a jumpdrive :)

I've just started playing and enjoying x3 reunion. Is it worth me abandoning reunion and starting on tc or is it better to play in order. I'm worried I may be bored of it all by the time I start tc after finishing reunion.

Yeh the lack of fighters is a shame, but I didn't ever really used them as cover whilst flying it at all. It was more than capable of taking out large groups of fighters on its own. so I'd do that then work towards the capital ships.

Can't recall how long it keeps the front guns firing, certainly long enough to take out any single capital ship I've come up against (although I believe the Terran ones have more shielding - haven't tried on them)

The Shrike is a great ship and arguably the better overall. I bought one long before I got the Tiger from a recommendation from you ages ago (probably this thread somewhere) - buy I tended to leave the AI flying that one whilst I fly the Tiger :p

Not sure which ship to work towards in my new save at the moment. I've got about 10 fighters, 6 freighters, 2 of those fighter transporters (dead handy little ships :)) and 2 M6's (Pirate Marauder (centaur) and a Split Heavy Dragon)
Don't feel like getting an M7 yet, and would like to try out something new, might get a Heavy Centaur or a Heavy Nemesis along with more freighters for more profitssssss.

If you are going for more m6's then i suggest you try and capture a Heavy Centaur Prototype or a Hyperion. Both very good ships and even better they are "free" ;)

You could also try out a Skiron, or if you have completed the terran plot a Springblossom.

its not too tricky to find a hcp patrolling the odd pirate sector, follow it until its escorts are killed off by pirate fighters then cap it for minimal rep loss.

is a fair old mission though with plenty of waiting and stalking.

I'm doing the terran mission thing, while my transporters make me some good money.

I got to teh part where I have followed a pirate to the big pirate base in an empty sector.

It says I have to scan the pirate base.
But there is no scan option. Do I need a bioscanner? If so that's annoying as there's only two outposts and only one I can get it from. All the way over on the other side of the universe.

You just fly close to it I believe. :) It's in the Q&A on the official site, so it looks like more than a few people had problems working it out.
