X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

If you are having trouble with a m3 then you need to go up a lvl of ship, you could try different weapons you should have a varied load out anyway, try all the types your ship can carry and see which ones work the best.

In order to get a per kill bonus you need to do a patrol mission.

Im getting some very difficult patrol missions now, im getting 30-40 p's and even started to get k's turning up last xenon patrol i did had 3k's. Luckily ive now got a nice shiny M7 Cerberus.

Warning unless you have a m7 dont even think about taking on kaahk m6's, and forget about kaahk destroyers they will rip even a m7 to pieces.

Stuttering , frame rate issues to single frames , wonder whats causing it for so many people after extended play

I have a theory about the slowdown problems, and its all the pirates fault. Was mapping the pirate sectors yesterday and was very surprised to find NO pirates only a constant stream of traffic passing though. Without pirates thinning the number of ships the numbers go out of control and slow the game down.

In that case its pretty clear what you should do, become a pirate yourself :D. By far the most populated space I came across was terrans. My plan for the world domination is to create bases in the unknown sectors behind them and then wipe them out first :D

WORLD domination, you are thinking to small its galactic domination or nothing.

Try the unknown sector, also please tell me if you can jump into them (plan to have my base of operations there, but if you cannot jump straight in il reconsider)

The accelerators used by the terrans are NOT jump gates, a jump drives needs a gate to lock onto in order to work. There is one exception to this rule but if i was to tell you it would ruin the surprise.

OK, encountered my first really nasty bug.

I took on a mission to return an abandoned ship to a nearby base, and after finding it ordered it to go back to where it needs to be, but the mission keeps failing with the 'you ran out of time' message when I still have 31 minutes on the clock. I've reloaded a bunch of times and it keeps happening. What's going on?

I've been flying around in perfectly safe space and so have only been using my autosaves, so all 3 of the rolling save spots are from after I accepted this mission, which due to this bug I now cannot complete. As far as I can see my only options are to allow this to completely wreck my reputation or to throw away my last five realtime hours of play. Is this a known bug?

Ive had a similar bug, the timer must be wrong.

some things to try

use the repair gun on the ship before sending it, this will speed up the ship

use a jump drive to get the ship to the required system quickly

give up... if you abort the mission before you pick up the ship you lose nothing.

edit, Another one to try will have to see if this works without losing rep. Accept the mission goto the system and sit by the ship. Abort the mission and then claim and sell the ship.....

Ugh, after flying around the solar system for a bit I've just realised all the Terran police are now marked as hostile. If I comm them they tell me to gtfo. My rep is the highest possible with the Terrans so I'm not sure what else I can try to fix this.

You must have stole that ship you were ment to be transporting, you need to abort the mission before you claim the ship.

Is the argon nova still the best m3?

Haven't played since the days of x2 and i dont really have much time to play this at the moment so im not really getting very far but i should have enough cash to get an m3 soon and i was wondering if the nova is still the best choice

Quite enjoying playing the game but im only getting about 30 minutes max playtime at the moment and x3 is the kind of game you want to sit down and play for a few hours at the time....roll on the weekend

The Nova Raider (lots of variants of nova avaliable) is still one of the best easily available m3's, but miles from the best m3 in the game. The best M3 is the has to be the Spitfyre - 452ms 3x25mw shield and EMP weaponry.

have a look at the ship stats spread sheet in the OP. you are really spoiled for choice now there are 22 different m3's and 13 m3+'s

Well I had my first play last night, just did the first Terran mission where I kill a few useless enemy fighters around Neptune.

That was about it really. :D

I had to get to grips with the aiming system, but I think I've worked it out, aim for the red predictive target ahead of the enemy craft zipping around.

It was more like 10 minutes of dancing than dog fighting, but seemed pretty enough.

The weapons on that terran m4 are just rubbish at taking down m5's they are fine for anything bigger.

If you are using a joystick get flight command software MK2 and turn auto aim on "k"

anybody know of a good beginners guide to this game?

I have started as a trader
so far I have bought some nav software for my freighter but I didn't realise I need trading software for it too :/

I really wanted to have my freighter trading by itself so I can go out and do missions/fight/explore

The piece of software you NEED to do remote trading is the "Trading systems extension" this has to be on the ship you are flying, this allows you to manually trade with remote ships. Trade software mk1+2 will allow you to setup manual trade runs, useful but not essential.

When you can afford it then get Trade software MK3, about 300k each. This allows you to setup system and universe traders, they will search a system\ universe for the best deals and automatically make proffittttttss for you.

Um, the one I saw was 500k from Teladi at PTNI HQ o_O. Where you find such cheap onces?

kill have a look tonight but i thought it was between 300-400k, which ever it is its peanuts to me now. Dont think twice about wasting millions.

so the Trading system extension is really for buying and selling without docking? hence I need to be piloting the freighter to make use of it?

what do I need to get my freighter buying and selling from one sector to another while I am out doing missions, etc in another ship?

where can I get the bestbuy/sell software?

no you must have a ship docked at the station you want to trade with, the TSE alows you to order a ship not the one you are piloting to trade with a station.

Best buy/sell are dotted around various trading stations, think came across a few in terran bases as well. They are generally easy to find but I suck at trying to operate them.

For now my plan includes setting up a sat network around some argon/terran sectors to help trading. I am not really sure how system trader works, once it reaches some sort of experience, it can jump into neighbouring systems to trade at.

On the other side, how do you make laser towers friendly with you? After my original Argon rep hit, they love me all apart from a laser tower which shoots me on sight and a mine I was trying to defend once. Can you even make peace with those thing?

If it involves trading then the telardi will always sell it (check their equipment docks)

Dont bother sating the terran sectors, as you cant jump into them they arnt worth the effort. Oh and only place sats in safe sectors.

To solve the problem with the laser tower try comm'ing it and apologizing if that doesnt work just blow it up problem solved.

In X2 and X3:R you were able to purchase a hacking service from pirate stations, this will hack the computers of the station and make it friendly again. I suspect this is still available check the missions on the closest pirate base.

After a sector trader gets some more levels, it can cover a few sectors, or at least that's how I read it. It can move 1 system either side, I think. Mine only just gained that so haven't managed to fly to its "home" system from where I want him to trade.

You need to restart the ST and set the number of sectors it can travel, ive tried it but its bugged and doesnt work, lust leave the st untill it reaches lvl 8-10 then start the UT far far better, a ST will make 100k's while a UT makes 1000k's.

Useful mods and scripts,

One of the lovely things about this game is there is a massive mod and script community. here is some of their useful stuff, not tried them yet but will be installing some tonight.

[script] Salvage Claim Software - Claim ships from the safety of your ship (and its not illegal)

[MOD] Add 100k to Draw Distance - can kill performance but makes things more realistic

[SCRIPT] Remove Rocks from Universe - helps performance

[MOD] No Civilians - Performance mod again

[SCRIPT] [2008.10.25] Weapons Quickswap v1.01 - nice mod to allow you to setup 3 different weapon profiles

[SCRIPT] NPC Bailing Addon v1.3 (beta) - makes ships bail in NPC v NPC battles

[SCRIPT] Improved Boarding - Boarding party hot keys (yay)

lots more at http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=216690

will add these to the OP
