X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

Well yeah :p

First time I just got by by doing the bounty hunter, combat mission running, capping ships thing. It was fun but was very slow and could be frustrating. Especially when you'd get to a certain point in some plot line mission and not have the right ship/equipment for it and have to break off and end up bugging up the plot line.

Now I'll just build rep and be able to enjoy the missions and plot lines without worrying if I have the right ships for the job because they'll all be waiting in the hangar, or in a carrier or two when I get enough rep to buy some :)

Anyway, started a new game, got my first billion from mining nvidium and selling the (read: chips) ships - 1 mercury then 23 then 133 :) So much quicker than my old struggle through the early game.

O'RLY? was that the fermi kind? ^^

Sorry, couldn't help it xD. Thinking of getting this game soon, is there anything I need to just start playing it?

I've just come back to this game after about a year of not playing and I've completely forgotten how to play it. It seems I've got plenty of cash in the bank and some nice player ships (no capitals though) plus a few complexes. I'm still on the hub mission and have over 100k ore left to deliver.

My question is a quick one. My main player ship is a Springblossom and I used to use it for moving asteriods around with the tractor beam but for some reason I can't work out how to equip the tractor beam - it's greyed out like it's incompatible.

I did apply all the updates since I last played. Have they crippled the Springblossom or something?

Managed to equip it on a Mistral SF but when I go to sit in the rear turret seat it won't fire?

very tempted to play this again.

But IIRC if you don't follow teh story line, it's very hard to make money to begin with. Is that right, or is there a walkthough for starting of in free mode?

seach for the walk through i posted that combined with going exploring and finding the near by m3 eclipse made the start very quick.

anybody know what shipyard the Paranid Hyperion is available at?.

ive been playing the terran story line, got to Aldrin etc, find my Vidar a little wanting in a fire fight some times so ive been looking to buy a Hyperion but can't find it at a shipyard, despite having high Paranid rep, is it a "reward ship" only?.

Only 2 ways to get one

1) by using the poisoned paranid start and completing its plot

2) set phasers on stun.

awwwww dammit!

i really struggle to cap ships, or rather ships that can fight back as well as a Hyperion can. this is gonna do wonders for my Paranid rep. :(

Finally got the hang of things, money is steadily rolling in :D

One question though: I am currently floating around Ore Belt trading the energy cells and ores, but an attack was just launched on the area, the local company's HQ was destroyed and so were the mines which I was trading with, I barely even managed to escape with my own life! I was lucky that there are many asteroids in the area, so I just kept out of sight and now they seem to be ignoring me. Anyway, will these mines and the company's HQ respawn eventually? or will I have to find somewhere new to trade? :/

Heres an interesting benchmark:

The difference between core i5/7 and core2duo is only 5 fps. Phenom can't compete at all and this is the last game Nvidia would use as a benchmark.
This game really likes ATi hardware and high CPU frequencies.

So annoying that this game is stuck using a single core. Hope they fix the fps degradation issues in the next patch.
