Fast and furious, and can be very frustrating if you have just saved at a station and there are pirates with plasma throwers close by...

You can use the joystick still if you wish using classic controls mode. X games are always a bit slow that wont change. Missions can offer large rewards now tho and missions are found everywhere. Remember to use sata device to speed the game up so ** not stuck traveling in real time all the time. If you dont have one then buy one asap and use j to activate it.

My wife thinks I'm really sad when I play this game. I have my Asus EeePC setup next to my main lappy and have maps and stuff on it - :p

I just dug out my copy of X3R (never really got into it). Sitting at my desk playing it on the main PC with a tutorial on my laptop beside me. Fiancée walked in and gave me a right funny look!!

hmmm... is this as slow paced as the previous X3? if i remember rightly, getting money from trading took ages :/

its as slow paced as you make it. but it will always be slow making money from trading if you dont have the starting capital. But there are quick ways to make money at the beginning.

ah i see... i guess so. i havent played it in a long time though. i do remember finding a few abandoned ships in the more dangerous sectors, and the far reaches of space. and trading space fuel, only to be caught, and my ship destroyed :p

damn i wanna get this out and play it now. but there's no chance on a laptop with no graphics card :(

That's true, protection missions seem to be the best for me, usually one ship surrenders (and twice this was an M8 worth 2mil+ :3). Although try to avoid ship retrieval missions that are harder then average, took one to retrieve an M4, the stupid thing was too broken, to make it back to the shipyard for repairs in the first place. So it got reported as stolen and now I am not allowed into core Argon sectors. then police followed me all the way into a core sector of another race and blew up a freighter that was captured a little bit earlier.

Then they went on to attack my docked M4 blowing it up, upon loading the game, honked M4 for money and made my escape. they seemed not to shoot my main ship(M4) for some reason. Well never mind, back to trying to get some rep built up with them as I started terran, and their core sector is in the way o_O

Tried trading, but it was so much more hassle (without trying automating its scripting if that's even possible), that and I have no idea of an easy way to find cheap prices or what not. Although do have enough to plonk some buildings down, should read a guide how to build stations.

Edit: I am guessing my game will update itself via Steam?

That patch is NOT for steam users, doing so will kill the game until you do a verify which can take a fair while.

iam currently stuck in tkr's deprivation doing a xenon invasion mission against about 20 p's (m6) 15 L's (m3) and dozens of smaller fighters. my gun barrels should have long melted.

Automatic trading....

What you want is trade command software mark 3 (avaliable from all good talardi equipment docks).

Load it onto a ts ship and start the sector trader, pick a sector with lots of stations and at least 1 power plant. Leave it and it will trade away.

Once the ts reaches lvl 10 start the universe trader, and it will fly around the universe making proffitsssss.

Universe trader requires a ship with at least 1 of its biggest shields(normaly 25mw) and a jump drive.

you could also load the best selling / buying price locators to help manual trading.

Guessing it also needs some escort just in case then.

Thats debatable, if you start the ST in core sector then you wont need to protect it.

Escorts will require constant topping up with EC's or they wont be able to follow a UT when it jumps, a ut should only jump to sectors you have property in.

you better off creating patrols for the more dangerous sectors. Its worth noting that if a UT/ST comes under attack it will run and hide in the nearest station.

UT = Universe Trader
ST = Sector Trader
EC = Energy cells.
