X4 Foundations

I want to get this game once I've finished my house renovations, in X3 if you had lots of stations located in one sector the game would slow down to a crawl as the engine I think was only single threaded. I take this game can use more then one CPU core now? I would love to build a massive complex's to sustain my needs.

The game will hammer 2 cores at 100% and depending how it progresses I have seen it expanding to an additional 8 cores at 60-80% load.
Is my go-to benchmark game also for my 3900X overclocking, as the 2 cores operating at 4550-4650 range constantly without much fluctuation :D

So if you have a strong system it would perform greatly, if you have a quad core prepare for disappointment, because even my 8600K @ 5ghz wasn't enough to play it.
Now a 5.3Ghz 9700K would work great, but wouldn't advice anything at lesser speed except a Ryzen CPU, since the later has one more generation of upgrade.

A small update of my current Paranid campaign as HOP ally. The economy on the HOP sectors is pretty bad. Because there is a massive need of goods and tiny production, autotrading & automining aren't as profitable as on the Teladi sectors. However sticking trying improve HOP economy at the moment.

Due to the dire need on anything HOP are in, some simple trade missions give a flat +6 on relationship even if that is already on 19, shooting to 25 instantly. In addition because the HOP sectors are massive and packed together, is easier to trade between 1 jump when something like that in TEL/ARG space needs to travel 2-3 jumps away.

Tbh having played with PAR & TEL mainly, game felt boring. With HOP on the other hand, is "hard mode" and truly enjoying it :D

I made HOP my main ally in my game as well, they're such a needy faction with them fighting everyone else that they constantly buy from me.
Started off working with Argon & Teladi to get myself setup with some decent stuff, then started to build a defensive line between HOP and the Xenon so that they can focus more on pushing back the other factions that were hounding their borders, now I'm gradually planning and setting up a network of production stations to feed their war efforts.

You feel so much more alive working with the HOP faction, having to pick and choose battles against everyone else and making sure traders and miners are well protected.

Wrote on previous page. Having done few of the content for the other races, apparently HOP are "the good guys".
Been attacked by 4 factions (ARG, ANT, PAR, ALI) because they want their independence, with Xenon and bugs and pirates on top.

Their situation is pretty severe tbh, given that their own capital sector is very unsafe. Went to grab a datavault in Holy Vision near the portal and was impossible.
At one point i was cowering inside the datavault because outside was chaotic and my ships were the only ones defending. For the sake of it, built 2 Nemesis fully equipped (4mil each) and with the Gorgon now patrolling the gate. Nothing less is possible hold there. Even put up 20 MK2 laser towers and lost them in 15 minutes even when the Gorgon and a Perseus were present defending the area!!!

When I am back tomorrow, going to finish the factory built missions and going to grab the Ody to set it up at the gate defending. At least that would stop the mass loss of HOP freighters happens in the area.

I have over 200 hours in the game and never felt that difficult, alive and entertaining as starting fresh with Paranid start and focusing only on HOP :)

Ahh yeah, the obligatory screenshots :D

No shame hiding in the vault as they had killed me already twice on my attempts to open it :o (had the scanner on thats why doesn't look good)

I'm still putting off getting this and my Xmas game spend went on The Witcher 3 instead. However just wondered how the bugs are? Steam still seems to be collecting a sprinkling of negative reviews, normally by now Egosoft have smoothed things out a bit. Also quite surprised it is still commanding a AAA price tag, even with the Steam sale on still over £25.

If you havent bought it, wait till 3.0 is out or the dlc with whatever patch is with it like 3.5. Then check ego forums see how the game is there. 3.0 is sorta looking like how it should have been at release. New gfx effects for weapons, missions, more story content, bug fixes, etc.

The Paranid campaign continues. Last night HOP had a nasty surprise :(
A Xenon K9 came to Holy Vision and blasted 3 HOP stations before my Odysseus Sentinel was made. The good thing is all those 3 stations were HOP orders had built so got 3 new orders for triple the money than before (17mil each!!!) for just 1 dock, 1 production, 1 storage modules almost outside the map where the lots cost sub 100K. That's roughly 15mil profit per station built which pay for the Odysseus Sentinel ordered (25million) and a second one.

After that need to build 2 frigates and few dozen Heavy fighters for each Odysseus.

While the war of aggression of ARG & PAR against HOP has stalled, I feel HOP are pretty weak atm, considering that couldn't bring a destroyer to take out the K9. Which means I need to redouble my efforts to build faster more stations to supply their shipyard & wharf. Until I have enough money to build my own shipyards and have them as my own customer (through the trade restrictions).

After over 300h on this game, I really love this pretty tough play through with the role playing element added to it.

I swear the game was messing with me all of this weekend, I had a mission to source a specific ship for someone and for the life of me couldn't see that one ship anywhere!
Certain I saw the ship before the mission was accepted... it's like the mission giver is playing a mean joke by telling all the pilots of the Manorina Gas Vanguard to not undock.

Managed to track down the ship last night, that was a fun game of cat and mouse.
With that mission done, I'm almost at the highest rank with the Teladi now so almost able to buy the last few blueprints off them... once I've gained the last of the blueprints my full focus will be going to backing up HOP and helping to push back all of their enemies.

I've now setup a permanent blockade at the gate to Faulty Logic where the Xenon keep trying to push through to the HOP owned space, so that's been helping them not get too flooded most of the time. My next major fleet is going to be setup in Second Contact to blockade the Argon ships from pushing into True Sight. Then I think I might try and claim part of Faulty Logic once I have a big enough fleet withstand the likely onslaught of Xenon capital ships that'd follow with me pushing into their space.

Just got 2 more data vaults to track down as well... the only problem is, I've now forgotten which ones I've visited so I keep going back to open ones.

If you refer to missions that require delivering a ship for hand over, best bet is to make a new one stripped down and send it. But you have to be on the sector for the mission to update.

Also, rule of thumb. Vanguard class are made by TEL, ARG, PAR. Sentinel class by MIN, ANT, HOP.
