Xbox is usually cabled, I'm decorating at the minute following a loft conversion so things are in temporary places. Can't wait to get it back to being plugged in.

So I pick my son up last night, we get back at 8pm which is later than usual and only gives me an hour or two game, fire up the Xbox, go to launch Atomic Heart, another update emerges, not as beefy as the last one but still 20 mins over WiFi.

There is something very frustrating about only getting an hour on a game, games are huge these days with lots to do and see and an hour just feels like five minutes in gaming time

Psst. Xbox has auto update feature in the power settings.

Only checks for updates during the night, if the update drops in the day and you launch the game the same day you're stuffed
I've read it also only works for the last "3" games you've played, not sure how true that is but I've experienced @Relentless81 pain in getting all set-up to game only to be faced with updates.

Funnily enough my console is set to auto update but doesn't seem to update all games, on occasion i start the console up i find some games haven't updated. I get pretty annoyed as why don't they just update all the games especially as the update is size is horrendous sometimes.

As Mariusz has pointed out i guess it may only update the past 3 games which is useless if I'm constantly playing different games.

Ah never knew about the 3 games issue. I only really play 1/2 at a time so this makes sense..

I don't believe it's only at night time that the updates happen, just on the basis that I know a game I play updates around 2pm and when I play at 4pm it's updated

My Xbox is on the same desk that I work at every day and it's never fired up in the day, only ever at night have I heard it fire up to check for updates

Have you changed any settings or are there any settings available have it check in the day?

I don't think it fires up like turns on right? Unless you're in silence, I'd have thought you'd not hear the noise of the fan slowly running

Interested to know if someone can confirm when it auto updates and if it's a set time.

Started playing the new Plague Tale the other day and not really fancied firing it up since. Seems too much like the first which although i enjoyed I wouldn't want to play again. Shall I persist?
