I'm trying to decide whether I should buy Elder Scrolls Online. The fact that it is on sale for £23.09 now with all released expansions is very tempting, but I've only really played it briefly on the PC. Would you recommend I get it at that price?

I've never played it, though basic version is on the gamepass. Is it any good? I figured it was likely to be too much of a fetch 10 of this sort of game

Started playing the new Plague Tale the other day and not really fancied firing it up since. Seems too much like the first which although i enjoyed I wouldn't want to play again. Shall I persist?
If you didn't like the 1st game this latest installment is just more of the same. Personally, I think the story told across both games is top notch, but there are gameplay elements in both that grated, for me.

Ok, just started Atomic Heart which looks good so will try it again after that.

I’m a fair way into Atomic Heart myself.

It’s an odd juxtaposition to be in a dystopian communist alternate reality with a totally Americanised protagonist playing the role of the Communist hero. I’m not sure why but I wanted him to be more Captain Ivan Drago than Captain America. Lol.

So far it’s been challenging and a good mix of lateral thinking puzzles and gunplay. I’m also surprised at how big the game is so far. I’m 28hrs in and only at my third or fourth main story area (the theatre). There seems a lot of the map yet to discover.

I’ve been trying to complete the story area and each testing ground as I go, as well as general exploration.

I’m actually really enjoying it, despite some of the dodgy writing/script. The mechanics of upgrades, different weapons and abilities feels a little shallow also, given that I’ve got through the game so far with a pistol, shotgun and rocket launcher and very little else.

I suppose it gives you freedom to play how you like but it does feel like a missed opportunity to integrate the various weapons and abilities into the gameplay to create a richer and more diverse narrative.

There is tons of lore for those who like that kind of thing and the game definitely has system shock / bioshock vibes.

It’s not going win any GOTY awards but it is a solid offering (so far) and well worth a look if you like first person shooters.

I can't get on with the framerate/slluggish performance. Makes everything feel too clunky, and the mechanics are already clunky as it is.

I cant believe they haven't put a 60fps perf mode in it for Series X.

I mean, it even drops below 30fps sometimes which is unacceptable.

I agree it is a pretty game, but having just been playing Cyberpunk and Atomic Heart at a pretty much a constant 60fps with them looking awesome and being large/open world games, a Plague's Tale Requiem is just poorly optimised.

You want to try secret neighbour 2. I think it's set to max 10frames or something. Terrible to just turn around

Yuck.

Still dont see why they can't put a performance mode into Requiem - just do dynamic res and scale back some of the details. To me, it appears to be a pretty linear and static world game so i don't know where they are burning up all the Series X's resources.

Finished Atomic Heart today.

Felt a little abrupt, all things considered. Story just felt like it was getting interesting and then it’s done! It’s taken 46hrs to get through the story but there’s a ton of places I haven’t been yet. Not really sure what the incentive is to carry on now?

Solid title for day 1 Gamepass. 7/10.

My son's one X stopped working the other day. Done all the tests I can and it is not ouputting a display or sound to the TV (but the TV is detecting a signal from it). To replace it with a new one X will mean second hand or a refurb, so am a bit wary about that. The series X is quite expensive for a non-birthday purchase. I was looking at the series S as a compormise. What are peoples thoughts; is that worth doing or just go for refurb one X. He is only 12 so graphics aren't he be all and end all for him.

Mine can play up in the same manner every now and then. Never been able to figure out what it is but turning off at the plug for ten seconds and then turning back on does the trick. Worth a try if you haven’t already?
