Don't care what he says anymore hes full of it. False promises from the start xbox has been a disaster this generation worlds fastest console has been trailing behind on almost every title released on frame rate. ill start using my series x when games actually run smooth until then ill use the PS5
Agree with this, gamepass is a great idea, and I have picked up games that I would have never played before through it but it definitely hasn't lived up to expectations. promises on the horizon, next year, coming soon just feels a bit deflating now, 2 and a half years in and I'm extremely underwhelmed by gamepass.

It’s not great at the moment is it.

- What happened to the FPS boost program, it just stopped?

- Very few games of any significance

- Expansion storage massively overpriced still

- Game pass releases have hugely dropped off

- Whilst plenty of games run better, marginally on XSX (VRR works far better on my XSX), it’s not enough when you consider that the PS5 controller blows the XSX controller away when even used remotely well, so I’ll always opt for my PS5.

- the promise of next gen first party future games, but many will probably release on the next console at this rate

- Starfield, Stalker, Forza Motorsport need to absolutely kill it for me to be back onboard

- PS subscription is now matching Gamepass imo, actually surpassing it with games like Horizon on there

This gen I bought my XSX then PS5. Next gen I could just skip MS entirely unless something huge like ES6 actually transpires.

I think Starfield is going to be the make-or-break for me on whether I'm keeping or selling mine. I've got both consoles and it's probably been the best part of 6 months since I've sat down and properly played the XSX. Nothing drawing me to even want to turn it on letalone play anything. I was looking forward to Redfall but we've seen how that's turned out...

I'll be honest the only thing keeping me on my Series X is Flight Simulator im addicted and always have been since i first tried it back in 1995. But I'm trying not to get another pc as i just don't have room or budget.
Forza also i have a soft spot. Luckily i get gamepass ultimate with my EE contract.
Waiting to see if Sony drop a PS5 slim in the next 12 months and I'll pick one up.

Was only thinking about that myself this afternoon. Xbox Series X|S started off with a big bang, FPS boost for older games, 1080p upscaling to 4K for Xbox One games (which has never happened) and then it all started to fizzle out especially with Microsoft plugging Series S continuously and treating Series X like an unwanted stepchild. Now everything just seems to be in the doldrums.

Same about MSFS, that’s the reason I went Xbox first this gen and a ps5 later on.

I play flight sim on and off and it’s brilliant, it’s not everyones cup of tea, unless your into simulations, but it certainly uses the series x power. I would say it’s the only title that is truly this gen on series X/S so far.

Added to that around 95% of the multiplat games run better on the ps5...

You keep saying that, but it depends on your metric. The resolution has usually been higher on XSX at expense of frame rate, but VRR always took care of the rest. The difference between both consoles in terms of res and frame rate overall is negligible. The controller is where the PS5 really stands out.

This was sometime ago, but not much has changed. There’s no swing one way or the other.

My Series X had plenty of use in 2020/2021 but I’ve barely touched it in the last 18 months and overall it’s had nowhere near the hours of use my PS5 has seen over the same period. I do still dip into it now and again. I blasted through Atomic Heart and I’m part way through replaying Halo Infinite too. I’d also say that the remote play functionality is much better on Xbox. Sony have gone a real cynical route with PS5 remote play, such as disabling PS4 pads for use with PS5 games and not allowing PS5 pads to work on android until recently and even then it’s janky, and on PC they have to be physically connected by a cable.

GPU was ahead of the curve, but now Sony have caught up and I find the titles on offer with my Plus subscription are more interesting to me. Sony also have exclusives but I’m a bit disappointed with the complete milking of the TLOU franchise. Feels really stale now. Just release some new IP already!

I genuinely hope that GPU will be on an upward trajectory with first party titles this year and next though. In terms of graphical performance, I can’t say I’ve noticed any real difference. I’m sure there are differences but if they are too small to notice, they are not worth caring about in my book!

I just want to play cool games, and the console is largely irrelevant to me, although overall I’ve found the PS5 has been my go to console because of a variety of reasons. I prefer the OS/GUI, I like the controller features, there’s been some great exclusives, the changes to Plus have been great, regular discounts/offers with basically a perma-sale and storage expansion is more affordable. Finally I can play online shooters and disable Crossplay in-game (rather than system level) and the player base is still big enough to get games quickly. Might seem like a little thing, but it’s important to me personally.

I’m really looking forward to Bethesda games and I hope they don’t tank. They have released some of my favourite games over the years and I’m hoping the pipeline will bring further great titles that will have me glued to my Series X :)

Interested to know what I'm missing out on that you're playing on PlayStation in the last 18 months that xbox doesn't have.

I'm considering to get a PlayStation, but only for the VR abilities, however as I know what will happen is 2 weeks later the fun of vr goes and then I don't know what else I'd do with the console

Talking from experience mate I have both Xbsx and ps5, games like battlefield 2042, call of duty & warzone, apex all ran better on my ps5 over the Xbox series x

That’s a very small snapshot of games though. I also have both consoles and for the many games shared between gamepass and PSplus there’s little difference.

What we do need on XSX are more first party games that fully use the hardware akin to games like Horizon on PS5.

I can't say one particular console has dominated my time this gen. Playstation has performed better with releasing AAA games eg. God of War Ragnarok, Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, but inbetween the major releases I find myself drifting back to Xbox/PC and Game Pass ( which basically costs me nothing due to MS Reward points ). I don't think either platform has excelled this generation, if I'm being honest. For those new to consoles, or returning after a long time away, I think Playstation is more appealing due to the impressive catalog of games from the PS4 era.

He just sounds abit defeated.

Microsoft lack of new ip started in last couple years of 360 generation and its just gotten worse.

Halo and Forza are no longer system sellers especially as there on game pass.

Halo has gotten worse each new title 343 produced. Infinite multi player is a step up granted but its campaign was flat at best.

Gears I like but again it would never make me go buy a consol from them. I literally invested in Series S for game pass as its cheap main gaming is pc or ps5.

Microsoft golden era is still original xbox and early years of 360.
I've said all this from the moment I got our Series X. It's about the most pointless console I've ever owned. Every single one of my sons friends still uses the Xbox one and why wouldn't they? My son's benefit to having the Series X is he gets in lobbies faster so gets to choose who he wants on overwatch before everyone else loads in. He still has to wait for everyone else.

Why would anyone buy a console when they didn't cut ties with the old one. The 360 came out and you either upgraded of you didn't play the new titles. Xbox one came out to new titles.

All they do is buy studios and pump out titles that were relevant 10+ years ago. How many people here actually played MP gears for more than 5 hours? Bought a studio and effectively killed the series off inside of two terrible releases. I want something new not Gears 6, Halo 54 or Forza whatever.

How many series x/s only titles have there been?

They are the ones I mostly play tbh but they are big competitive titles. The worlds fastest console should be on top in performance. At a guess I think developers are making these kinds of games perfect on ps5 just because of share numbers are much greater on ps5 over the Xbox either that or it's a ballache delevolping for the Xbox strange one

Surely the new star wars jedi games are xbox series only?

I can't cement for fps games, but imagine there must be some difference to performance during game play for series players and xbox one players.

I play dbd and that game was the reason I upgraded from one to series x, as it started to run like poop, which during a competitive game was a big disadvantage.

Well, I’m not sure I would consider my console use as a way to describe what others are missing out on, given it is really a subjective matter.

For me, there’s a few exclusives / semi-exclusives that I’ve put some time into. Not always new games though. Recent examples are Demon’s Souls, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Returnal, Days Gone, TLOU 2, Gran Turismo 7, Astro Bot, The Last Guardian, Deathloop, Stray and Sackboy.

There could be others I’ve forgotten and others I haven’t really gotten into yet or played long ago like Amazing Spider-Man and Miles Morales, GOW 2018, Uncharted 4, Detroit Become Human, TLOU remastered, Ghost of Tsushima (not my cup of tea), Bloodborne, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart etc.

Then I’ve played other titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield 4 on PS5 because I can turn off crossplay in game rather than at system level.

Then of course, for those who have the hardware, there’s a ruck of VR titles and content. I don’t have the VR2……..yet! :p
