So many different professions, think i have a tinker, a thief (although probably going to bin this off as don't like having wanted points), blacksmith and a miner. i read adding more people to the team can end up making things harder due to food and wage demands, i went for each zone being static levels rather than dynamic levelling so think extra people in the team shouldn't affect that.

Been rocking the Series S since release day and have played Forza Motorsport quite heavily since it released and heard it's quite the downgrade compared to the X version. I've also been getting chucked back to dash board and getting lobby errors which I assumed was down to bugs within the game build.

Decided to treat myself to a Series X last week and the game's been perfectly stable so far so maybe the Series S build is the issue? And the visuals are a noticeable upgrade as to be expected.

Bit of advice after investigating my dead series x: I recommend turning off the quick startup in the power options, it seems to be killing the SSD and subsequently the Xboxes (I’m sure it is now off by default now which says to me Microsoft know it is)
I removed the SSD to test and it is dead, after looking online I was shocked to find out a huge flaw in the console design: each SSD has a partition with an encrypted key that is tied to that console only, if it dies you cannot simply drop a new one in and download the OS, the only way around it is to remove the SSD and clone it while it’s working as a back up, otherwise MS want £300 to “repair” it.
I just caved into the £359 offer and got a new one

I’m looking into what Monitor to pair with my new Series X - Figured with all the promotions currently running on such items it would be a great time to ask.

I’ve currently got my Series X (Temporarily) hooked up to our 4K60HZ HDMI 2.0 Living Room TV but the plan is to move it and play on a Monitor (I prefer being closer, especially when playing online competitive games)

Been trying to get my head around what modes mean, for example in Dying Light “Performance Mode” is highlighted with no option to change currently due to being limited by my TV.

I know that many variables come in to play depending on the game but…

4K Monitor with HDMI 2.1 and have the ability to run 4K 30FPS, or 1440P and up to 120HZ

I suppose my question is would a 4K Display Downscaling to 1440P which I would probably run most of the time, look worse than a true 1440P Monitor being ran at Native Resolution?

Edit: The more I look into it the more it hurts my head.

Without HDMI 2.1 - I’m going to struggle to get above 60HZ even on a lower resolution?

Performance mode means higher frame rates (could be 60 or 120hz depending on what the game supports)

Quality mode will always be higher resolution but potentially lower frame rates to go with it.

You'll be ok with an HDMI 2.0 Monitor as well as long as it states it supports 120hz... or higher refresh rates.

Depends how close you want to be but 24 or 27" could be the sweet spot for you depending on the type of games you play and resolution you're going for, if you're after a 4k monitor I'd probably go 27" or higher.

That helps, thank you.

Currently have 1080p 24” which I’m tempted to replace with a 1440p 27”

I’ve not much desire for 4K 30HZ regardless of game really, now to find a monitor which plays nice with Consoles.

Just sold my X-Box headset because it doesn't fit my epic head...want to replace it with a new pair but this time compatiable with PS5 and Steam Deck if possible.

What are people using for multi system headsets?
Steel Series Nova 7x. 30% off in the BF sales. Can even listen to music from your phone at the same time. Had mine a week. Excellent, my only gripe being the mic mute button is a bit tricky and I keep double pressing it however my last headset was the Rig 800x which has a rigid mic you fold up or down quickly to mute / unmute so I am used to that.
Also when used on the PS5 the chat mix feature is disabled but I believe that is the case for every headset with the exception of the official Sony one. Same was true for the Rig 800.

Argh, i just ordered PC38X 10mins ago lol I know it's wired but will go into the controller, currently $119.

My main problem is I don't know if a headset will fit my head except I know Sennhesiers do, I have had like 5 pairs of them, and they all do.

Fair enough.
There's a decent bit of adjustment on the Nova. As well as having the usual sliders the internal band has several adjustments on it. Its the best one I have ever had, loads on the PS5 thread here recommended them. I've had some long sessions this weekend and they are very comfortable. Absolute bonus they are bluetooth too.

Sounds good, will see how i get on with the PC38X, if the worst happens i'll relegate it for Teams Call at work lol

Can anyone recommend compatible wireless ear buds for the Series X?

Budget Option?
Mid Range Option?

I’ve ordered a Monitor (1440p, 144Hz, HDR10, HDMI 2.1 etc) but it’s speaker-less so trying to figure that part out :p

Lords of the fallen on Xbox series S = 432p resolution and framerate down to 2fps

In case you were wondering, the PlayStation 2 from 2001 played games at 480p, the series s is playing this game at less than that
The Series S is just underpowered. What they are doing at MS I have no idea. The SS is a ball and chain,it's giving the Xbox a bad name. Why do they have a split memory pool as well? Did'nt they learn anything from Xbone? Fire up F-Zero GX on an emulator,it still looks better than most games and that came out 2003 or something. Amazing really.

Dead Space Deluxe on sale for £7.99 until 11pm if you are quick, and have Game Pass. I know the standard edition is currently on Game Pass, but this seems like a great deal to own the deluxe edition in perpetuity.

I never understood the reason for a series S and series X, sure it was a cheaper way to own an xbox, but in the end its just another system for devs to have to worry about when making games work on, and at the same time holding back some games to cater for both systems. Playstation released just the PS5 and that sold like hotcakes, so Xbox could have just released the one system as well.

Different strategies, thats all - remember Sony released 2x PS5's as well; Digital and with a Disk Drive - at least the tech specs are the same there though, I fear having to support the S will just result in gimped games for the Series X.
It'll be even worse if we see a Series X Elite/Pro type launch.

It was bad enough when devs felt that anything multi platform had to be PS4 and XB1 compatible holding them back from true next gen games, the Series S risks doing the same

I don't think the series S holds back development of series X. It's not like having to support last gen consoles in the sense that they had different hardware architecture.

The series S has the same architecture as in the series X, just at a lower performance target i.e. series x tends to to target 1440p+, but series s is 900-1080p. It supports all the features of its bigger brother, but targets a lower resolution.
