Looking forward to seeing Indiana Jones and Avowed. Wonder if we'll get a shadow dropped game this year like last year.

Rumours are saying that Indiana Jones is being released in 2024..doubt that.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 only 4K and 30FPS on Series X?

Wanted to give this a go until I believe it’s still capped at 30 FPS, I know it’s slow paced but I’m quite sensitive to 30 FPS unfortunately.

Yeah it is, it's never had a 'Series' patch so it's just running the One X code, i believe it runs at a much more stable framerate though.
Can't say i'm surprised though that it's not patched, Rockstar have got to make money of re-releasing it at full price down the line with 60fps and RT of course ;)

Thought so, thank you for confirming.

It seems PS5 has had a patch, shame Xbox has been left out.

If it’s stable, and not too much of an issue I may give it a go.. I’ll have a think about it :)

It’s a shame everything is catered to 4K 30FPS as I would take 2K 60FPS any day of the week :p

PS5 patch was for Red Dead Redemption 1. Both consoles are running PS4 Pro/Xbox One X code for RDR2.

Thank you for correcting me, makes sense now as I recall seeing a post regarding this.

I must give it a go then if both Consoles are in the same boat, I’m sure it’s more than playable but every game so far where possible I opt for FPS Boost/Performance Mode as I’m sensitive to it.

Shame nobody is talking about last nights developer direct on here.

Thought Avowed looked interesting, not 100% I'm happy with the setting but I'll definitely give it a play
Need to start and finish Hellblade 1 so nice to get a release date to aim for, the trailer reminded me a little bit of A Plagues Tale graphically
No interest for me in the RTS as I rarely game on my PC but it did look like it could be fun
Indiana Jones looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait to play it. They have just given a 2024 placeholder...I can see this one getting delayed personally.

I thought the setting for Avowed looked great! It was the combat I wasn't sold on. Still, I trust Obsidian to give us a good game.

Hellblade 2 does indeed look amazing! The only downside is that they've confirmed it will be as short as the original, so 6-8 hours. And I don't imagine it will have tons of replayability. Still, it apparently won't cost as much as other full price games (if you're not playing on GP).

If Ara reviews well, I'll give it a go on PC.

Indy could be amazing. Glad it's first person (for the most part), and not an all out shooter. Not a fan of Troy Baker's impression of Ford though. His line-delivery is very stilted. But that's only a small quibble. I could see it slipping too, release-wise. But fingers crossed!

Yeah maybe the setting isn't what I meant, perhaps the art style of the graphics? Like you say Obsidian do make a good game so I'll be giving it a try for sure.

I'm happy with a shorter game (although I do subscribe to gamepass). If you don't subscribe, could always just sub for a month to complete it if there's little to no replability.

Good selection of different games at the dev direct, will give most a go, I think most had release dates for end of the year though I think.

So after struggling with internet speeds on the Series X over WiFi for the last couple of years, I have done some additional home networking to install a 2nd WiFi 6 router operating in Media Bridge mode and cat6e Ethernet cables running to my Series X, PS5 and the Sky Q box.

The original catalyst for this was that we recently rejoined Sky and our new Sky Q box was really flaky when connected via WiFi and kept losing connection, requiring a network connection reset in order to have a chance of reconnecting to WiFi, which failed again immediately in probably two thirds of attempts. Lots of posts on their support forums about the issue and the prevailing advice is to connect via a range extender rather than directly to the router.

Anyway, the upshot is that by using a Media Bridge, my Series X is now utilising the full connection potential of my FTTP line. After struggling with terrible connection and download speeds over WiFi with two different ISPs and various different router hardware, it’s nice to be able to download games at the correct speed. My PS5, which was fast already on WiFi 6, is also even faster now and just a few Mbps down on my maximum line speed. Sky Q box is working fine now too.

Not sure why I didn’t do it sooner, I guess I just never really thought about it, but I’m really happy with the outcome.

Anyway, might be helpful for anyone else thinking of doing it.

I will be doing a similar job soon too - I've already got flat cat6 cables and a 2nd router ready for the setup.

Thought about buying a Series X console when they were on offer before Xmas, but struggling to enjoy gaming besides Rocket league Rumble, so I dithered and they are now back up to ~£450.

Saw earlier on HotUKDeals a Series S bundle with FC 24, good price, but even though we don't currently have a 4k TV, I can't help but wonder if it would be a bad idea this late in the day.

To have as alternative when gaming pc being used, to do bit of gaming and web browsing. Heck of a lot cheaper than a 4060 graphics gaming desktop tower! Decisions decisions...

Looks like Xbox are laying off 1900 employees across all its studios. Phil Spencer’s memo confirms and thanks those affected. They have cut 9% of their gaming division with most cuts being at Activision/Blizzard.

Devs I follow seem to be shocked and appalled by this. What did they expect when they bought these big studios? Lot’s of jobs would be duplicated and with AI on the rise a hell of a lot more of the 22,000 employees will be looking for alternative careers.

I keep telling my son, the last sort of career he should be looking at is one that involves sitting in front of a computer screen.
