120Hz and VRR ? Elden Ring looks great ... can't hit 60fps on console but Xbox's implementation of VRR smooths out performance a lot. Arguably was the best platform to play Elden Ring on release until the PC version got patched up ... and even now it's still broken for some people. I love playing Forza Horizon on a big display, too. Regardless of what you play, enjoy the TV ... I think a good 4K display is one of the best upgrades any gamer can make :)

ps. On the Playstation front, God of War ( 2018 & Ragnarok ) take good advantage of VRR with a quality 40fps mode. Spider-man, Ratchet & Clank : A Rift Apart also do similar. And Hogwart's Legacy is really nice on a 4K display ( also has a quality 40fps mode ).
Thank you! Looking forward to getting my hands on it.

So there seem to be a fair number of rumours that Sony will release a PS5 Pro later this year. Are there any rumours about an Xbox Series X Pro? That would be pretty awesome.
I think i read somewhere that Phil Spencer more or less said their wouldn't be one. And if you look how poorly the Series X has sold, there just isn't much of a market for a "Pro" model.

Now we're pretty far down the line, is there much difference between the two in performance with the gift of hindsight?

I know when they were released i bought a Series S, got filled with regret, returned it and bought a Series X which i enjoyed having. However i sold it before moving to Spain. I'm now in the market for another console and had been waiting for some deals on the Series X, but wondering whether the Series S would be perfectly fine. Given i'm a fairly fair weather gamer at best.

Just don't want to hit Fable/GTA6 release dates and find myself wishing i'd just spent a little extra.

Skillup had a bit in his video yesterday about how difficult developers are finding cramming a game to run on the S. MS wont let studios release them until they run on both that and the X. Hence why we are seeing some delays to xbox releases and often (as he hinted about wukong) no release at all.

When a game is released on PC it scales to the level of hardware, why can't developers do the same for the Series X/S. I might be being naive or ignorant but I don't understand what the issue is, especially when games were still being made compatible with last gen.

If running GTA6 is a priority I would suggest avoiding the Series S and getting the Series X, base PS5 or the PS5 Pro. GTA6 is probably going to be quite demanding.

They should bin off the S, it failed.
Except it didn’t, it sells far more than the series x.

It’s likely what parents will buy there kids due to cost and Microsoft made it so anything on X must run on S.

Personally I think as I’ve said many times before has its uses depending on an adults set up.

I have PS5 and PC and my PC is higher end so my Series S is a pure game pass machine for when I wanna play on the Sofa

I’ve hammered playing Diablo 4 on it recently with a few friends. Compared it playing it on my PC and despite PC being far better hardware wise I prefer playing it on a the Series S.

I've had an Xbox Series S and loved it, tiny and quiet. My only disappointment was the fact that you couldn't play the Xbox One Enhanced version of games.

Depends on the scope of the game, sometimes just running at a lower graphics fidelity is not enough. The only reason Baldurs Gate 3 got released on Xbox was because the developer got special permission from Microsoft to cut co-op from the Series S version. I’ve seen it said the thing that really cripples the S is the dog slow RAM.

I believe it was the lack of RAM that's the reason for the inability to run Xbox One Enhanced games.

Yeah. The One X has 12GB of RAM with 326MB/s bandwidth. The Series S has 10GB, split into 2 pools, a 8GB pool with bandwidth of 224GB/s. The remaining pool of 2GB is so slow it's only really suitable for background tasks and the OS, because the bandwidth is 56GB/s.
