Yeah. The One X has 12GB of RAM with 326MB/s bandwidth. The Series S has 10GB, split into 2 pools, a 8GB pool with bandwidth of 224GB/s. The remaining pool of 2GB is so slow it's only really suitable for background tasks and the OS, because the bandwidth is 56GB/s.
That's definitely a school boy error on Xbox/Microsofts part. Why handicap your system like that, especially when it's went on to be the best seller for them so far this gen.

Be interesting to see if they follow suit on the next generation with two different models like they have now.

I think they will weather devs like it or not.

It’s because of the latency using ram designed for a GPU for CPU specific tasks. Splitting it actually works better the problem the S has is it just does not have enough really.

Jumping back into the world of consoles most likely, as they're just much more practical for me these days with moving around and not having much time at my desk. Is it a bad time now to consider buying a Series X? I've always preferred the Xbox controller personally which is why this time I'll be swayed for the Series X. However, the PS5 Pro is coming out soon and also a new rivision of the series x. Will the new revision of the series x be more powerful in any way? Should I wait?

Cheers

If you don't have much time due to being on the move, have you considered a handheld eg. Steam Deck or Switch ? Unless you have time to sit down for longer periods ( which you say you don't ) then a Series X or PS5 isn't going to serve you well.

Picked up my X last week, nicely in Spain there's a 3yr warranty which is nice.

Currently playing Sniper Elite 5, but will hit Far Cry 6 up soon. Have bought Hogwarts as my wife is a HP fan, although having watched her navigate around Zoo Tycoon i'm not sure it's wise letting her loose on a more complex game!
