If you have Sky theres no reason why you shouldn't see as much of La Liga as you do Premiership.
In fact more... sky show every barca game live but only showed about 20 live Utd prem games last season.

I don't think Rooney has progressed at Utd as much as everyone expected and on the whole he really lagged behind Ronaldo last year, where as 2 season ago most would have thought it would have been Rooney to go on to the next level.

I never do agree with this "hes only 20 he can only get better" stuff. They said that about owen when he was 20. Players may find a role that suits them better but few actually do get better than when they hit the backpages.

I'd wager most of the people on here saying messi is better than rooney havent seen him play more than 5 full games a season, or highlights on soccer am.

Matthew Taylor can score 40 yard volleys, does that make him a better player than Messi or Rooney? NO.

Messi has better close control, hes a better finisher, hes faster, a more accurate passer and he's more likely to produce something from nothing than Rooney.

Nice way of dodging around why I brought that up

Messi may be a better dribbler than Rooney but he's never stronger on the ball nor is he a better passer infact he doesn't even come close. As for him being more likely to produce something out of nothing that's laughable as well, they've both equally got the quality to pull something out of nothing.

Why are you trying to make out as if Messi is physically weak? I bet you haven't even seen him play. He very rarely gets muscled off the ball and whenever you see him go down its more because of him trying to get a free kick than him being overpowered.

I'm pretty sure they don't show every Barca game live....

I myself am certainly not trying to make him out to be weak but in my opinion he's not a physically strong on the ball as Rooney, taking the FA Cup final as an example I just cant ever see Messi being able to hold off and run away from someone like Essien (which Rooney did on at least 2 occasions)

Not to mention as everyone knows The Premiership is a far more physical league than La Liga so it's going to be easier for Messi playing in Spain.

I don't recall them not showing either Real or Barca when they have played. They normally show them live but when Real and Barca play at the same time they show one of the games straight after the other has finished.

Not too sure why you keep comparing Messi and Rooney, they're both completley different players. Its ok to compare the two goals however.

I totally agree, the thread just headed in that direction :o

Well he quite clearly is, no one can deny that. Still a very good player though.

I didn't mean that he hadn't cheated, I admit he has. What I meant was that it's stupid to put Messi down for being a cheat and ignore the fact that Ronaldo is a serial diver.

Its the same scenario for Messi at his age then isn't it? People have the same opinion on Gerrard, Henry etc etc.

I feel its a bit hypocritical to have Ronaldo in 1st place but Messi lower because he cheats? Something just isn't right there I'm afraid...

I didn't have Messi lower because he cheats, I have him lower than Ronaldo because he's not as good.
Ronaldo took more whacks than anyone I've ever seen in a Premiership last season, he just got up and got on with it. He got 2 bookings all season.

Messi took a massive dive for a penalty and got booked for it in his last game for Argentina earlier this week.

I watched a lot of (not all, but most) of Barcelona's games. Messi is quite poor a lot of the time, very lazy and doesn't do much. He also doesn't start many games.

Didn't Ronaldo take a dive, to win a pen vs Spurs towards the end of the season?

Serial diver? Did you watch Man Utd last season, cause judging from that shocking excuse for a post, you never.

Fact is, Messi does dive. A lot. He also punched the ball into the back of the net and feigned injury to get someone sent off all in the end of season run in.

Meanwhile Ronaldo did no wrong last season. It's blinkered people like you that are just out with tinted glasses that spout rubbish about stuff you are clearly uninformed about.

lol, shush you. Forgot about that one. But it was nearer the start of the season than the end. I'll give you that one.

But at the time I was the only one in a room full of fans watching it that said it was a dive even before replays showed it.

It was towards the end of the season ;)

4th February 2007. Wasn't at the end of the season.

I thought it was in the first meeting of the teams though. Regardless, we won that game 4-0.

Ronaldo also took a dive in a Middlesborough game to win a pen, or was that another one when "he lost his balance and fell over" as a lot of Utd fans seem to claim?
