Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

If you want a sound card for gaming - go for a decent X-fi. Not just the cheaper ones, but one that has the X-fi ram. X-ram (as it is called) helps offload system load by storing sound data in its own memory ;)

If your spending £100 on cans - I'd definately recommend one!

I disagree, don't go X-FI and buggy drivers,go Asus Xonar DX which is a great card for the price and no Creative software crap.

anyways!

I take it all back Asrock - please forgive me, looks like intel has done one on us new 2600k users and binned the highers one and rebadged them as 2700's!:

It took me a grand total of 3 seconds to achieve this with the Auto 4.6 OC profile:

well happy - [email protected] with mem 1866@9-11-9-24/[email protected]

people have problems with either cards mate tbh - some people have problems with x-fi drivers, some with xonar ones. Personally I have no issues at all with X-fi ones, not tried the Asus cards (just didnt like the fact it needed an extra power molex to run!)

I haven't got my manual to hand so i was wondering if anyone could confirm that the board has two 4 pin PWM fan headers. One being a CPU fan header the other being a chassis fan header?

Thanks

Explain ?

Opening up can of worms here however use Google and other places like their forums to see what I mean ,half the time they have users that make modded drivers just to get things working right.

I had to use modded drivers with my ex-Creative card to get it working which has since been replaced by Xonar DX.

Basically Creative have a well known reputation for bad drivers etc...

+1, and doesn't look like improving anytime soon.

Got mine yesterday after reading this topic

But I could do with some help please, can not get it running

New components -

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)

Connected it to a Hyper 1000 PSU, put CPU cooler on, not used a GFX card or hard drive yet

Mouse - USB
Keyboard - PS2

Keyboard is not recognised on start up screen, does it need to be USB?

Noticed it hang on these errors 19 and 60

Cleared cmos several times

If it does boot, sometimes I can press the delete key to carry on, it freezes on the BIOS screen or the mouse will work then freeze

Any help will be gratefully recieved

Can not get past the first boot page where it says press delete to enter set up

Getting a new USB keyboard tomorrow and a spare USB mouse

I have got a drive with windows on it to try but can not enter the bios

All plugged in correctly, it is now assembled outside the case, I put it in thinking it would work

So guys - anyone had any luck overclockin an i7 over 4.6 on these boards?
I can do it but it needs stupidly high volts and unfortuantely its not just a case of setting vcore and multiplier.

Anything above 4.6 and you have to get involved with the turbo settings, and Max cpu power settings. Just wondering if anyone has any stable settings we could try. thanks
