There is no good reason for disabling speedstep or any of the power saving features, unless you're aiming for 5GHz + with offset vcore then disabling C3 and C6 helps. Otherwise leave them ON. Turning them off just wastes electric

Sure it was C3 you disabled to get that result or was it the Power Management setting for the Intel controller?
I have to disable the power management (can't rememeber exactly what its called - but its in the bit where you set the IDE/AHCI modes etc) for the intel controller as I noticed slight stutter on my C300 with it on.
your hdaudio or ac97 front panel audio blocks should connect to your soundcard? instead of the mb
i dont have a sound card, but if i get one, i presume something like the Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp will allow me to connect my front port
