*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

It was a right bugger. I almost switched off for a bit and took a break :p

On the last attempt I nailed it. Anyone know how to kill those bots ? I had one chase me for about 10 minutes through a field :mad: not fun haha.

Can't decide whether to get this game very soon on my Wii u or wait and decide if I want a switch in about 3 months and maybe the frame rate will be patched or still get it on a Wii u with it patched.

You're not meant to yet, it gets mentioned you need the skills/kit.
I just picked up a shield which reflects their attacks but not used it on them yet

There is one that's stuck in the ground, I stood behind a wall and threw bombs at it, after 15 mins it still got like 90% health left so I walked away.

Tbh I did the same ! There was one next to one of the first of the three shrines you have to complete. And I was like wth, how do I kill this damn thing :D

I love using bombs to kill those goblins, they chase you and I just run away, drop one and detonate. Sends them flying!

They've nailed the combat in this game for sure. It's just so much fun. Especially the running with a bomb and dropping as they chase you :D

Lightning and freeze arrows are great too ! Haven't tried bomb arrows yet

I just got killed by lightning lol! I was like why am I sparking for no reason. Then bang a bolt comes out the sky for no reason (other than the storm of course) brilliant !

I like walking around hunting animals, shooting at deer, birds and a bit of bomb fishing...found that out by accident! Cleared out and entire pond of fish lol

And you can take down trees with bombs too.

I haven't been bomb fishing yet. Brilliant ! :D

I've felled trees though. Makes you wonder why they put a wood axe in when you can just blow the **** out of the tree with a bomb :D

Torching the grass is fun as well. But bomb fishing is definitely the best accident, some went flying, and also bombs those crates, no need for axe them and wasting weapons.

Just bombs all over :D

Haha ! If in doubt... blow the **** out of it 'murica style :D

I must admit I do really prefer the block bombs to the round bombs. You know where you are with those, cause they don't roll around !

The round ones goes further, and especially those goblins that camp near a slightly incline....I go round the other side and roll a bomb down...they look at it puzzled until BOOM! :D

Also, attacking chickens is still as deadly as ever!

Haha, fantastic ! There is actually a bomb upgrade.. but I'm unsure where to find the bits for it that I need. I wonder how much better they'll be after that :D

Loving the combat, learning enemy attacks and practising dodging is so much fun and rewarding. For Wii U, I read that possibly setting your console to 720p may give you better performance so I'm trying it, but I'm not sure if it's any different (thought I'd mention it). I guess it's because the game is 720p, so maybe letting your TV do the upscaling to 1080p instead of the console may just give a little boost.

That's the beauty of the game I guess, that is a true open world as opposed to a more linear where your character build it up through dungeons.

Further into the game I'm finding harder enemies, but it's not so much as harder in that sense(if I had the same level weapons/armour), it's just they are way higher 'level' without there being anything to really let you know, that group is easy, that group is difficult.

The worst thing is I've now crashed multiple times, probably somewhere like 8-10 times now, and just some horrible performance at various times, mostly excessive smoke/wind effects.

Why have a few extra particle effects that really don't improve the game graphically anyway, but more importantly wouldn't take anything away from the experience if not there. Seen a lot of people reporting that Zelda runs better in handheld mode than docked for Switch users. It's Cell shaded, it has a specific style and looks good on it's own, the effects don't bring much except for a less smooth experience that effects it's playability significantly. These are the things that make me remember why I mostly stick to PC.

The crashing is so infuriating in large part because 99% of the time when my PC game crashes... it's too Windows and it's reload in under 15 seconds. With the ridiculously slow to boot Wii U and not great(nor terrible) loading times it's getting to me. I can't remember another console game that ever crashed on me this much. I think I had 1-2 crashes over all the games I've played on the PS4 put together.

That sounds horrendous. I've had no crashes yet touch wood.

And I've played quite a fair bit.

ive just done the first main quest part, the Zora quest with the water elephant
