*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

Haha, yes the lady was well-informed that she may not see me for a while... 3 days ago when the 100/100 reviews hit :D

Concerted effort this morning to go for a run, chuck some laundry in, hoover, munch, then sit down for a monster session.

I was grinning like a chesire cat all the way through the
pre-dungeon fight and then dungeon. Interested to hear your strat on the boss when you're done.

The frames still hurt, but I'm caring less and less. Only nintendo could get away with this!

literqlly just did the boss in the elephant dungeon. Took a couple of deaths. In the end I went back to zoras domain and bought all the ice arrows. Literally attacked him with the sword for the first phase. And then spammed him with ice arrows in the second stage. What a ball ache haha.

I am at the same place :D
Everyone going the zora route
It was the minotaur with the shock arrows I had difficulty with. minimap updated and it looked like he was the target, lol

I think I cheated at a Shrine.....:D

At the Shrine by the bottom right village where you control the puzzle with motion/levelling control with the controller like a spirit level to put this giant ball through a maze....

I simply flip the controller upside down and the puzzle on screen also turned upside down and it was a flat surface!!!!
I had to do some ghetto stuff with that one too, wouldn't work the logical way in my mind.
I've noticed a lot of the puzzles can be solved in a variety of ways. Most of mine don't feel elegant, but get the job done. Definitely a new and good change for Zelda games which have historically had 1 solution.

Cool, you did the same as me, except i used shock arrows. Really felt like I was cheesing it, but having thought about it I'm not sure there's another way considering he's in the air.

Yeah, and I just ended up there randomly. Not like I set out to go there.

it did feel like a bit of a cheese but I didn't know any other way to do it either. Broke like, 4 bows doing it! And two guardian swords ! :( I dunno if I like breaking gear system. I liked those swords, they glow !

Edit. Wait. Did you kill that Minotaur D3K? i cheesed it and snuck around for all the shock arrows !

Going to see if it works in non TV mode next, got about 20 mins this morning before the footie before it crashed... though at least this time the crash was perfectly timed to like 1 min before kick off :p

Thing is, in terms of dust it's basically been in a box most of the past year due to packing up for a move that didn't happen, then eventually moving, only got unpacked at xmas. I had a look, there is zero signs of dust on any vent, on the back fan. AIr coming out is cool, it's barely been used.

I'm starting to think it's dying, I might have to play something else to see if it works or not. If other games work fine then I don't know, ask for a replacement disc? Can you delete the game updates then have it redownload it?

No way. Best I did was get him to about 60% with 4 flurry dodges. Broke a weapon each time, he broke 3 of my shields and then one shotted me. It slowly sank in that I didn't need to fight him :D

Haha. I think I did the same.

I broke a weapon. Literally didn't even graze him. Got one shotted. :D

Frustratingly I was considering getting the shock arrows elsewhere at one point :p

That's my biggest frustration so far. Why are weapons and shields so feeble? I'm all for weapons being damaged in games but I wish they lasted much longer and maybe even be repairable.

I'm not a fan of the damage/repair system, at all, find a sword you like, it's gone in seconds. Then the whole, throw a weapon for auto crit damage just seems stupid. Swords can be damaged after a few hits, but your armour made out of cloth, that never gets damaged.

I mean 99% of people who play RPGs love finding great equipment, buying a new sword or defeating a dungeon to get an uber weapon. This seems to go the exact opposite, everything is worthless, just use whatever. Have 48 weapon slots just so you can stack stuff up.

I also like that if you win a guardian sword, the guardian using it can hit you as many times as he like without any damage, you can then use it 5-10 times afterwards then it breaks. It's just such a bizarre system I can't think why anyone would think up the system in the first place then why anyone would think it was worth keeping. Smells a bit like they didn't want to design loads of individual special swords and cool ways to win them.

That's a shame really I can still remember getting the various higher level swords playing Zelda back in the day on my SNES and loving how powerful they got nearer the end of the game - how times have changed though.

It would be good if they could add some kind of crafting to repair weapons though - maybe a bit of DLC or a future patch would be nice.

About 4 hours straight today. I love this game. It's almost worth 300 quid alone haha.

The durability system is maybe a big crescendo to show how extra special the Master Sword is, cos you know that's not breaking once you get it :)

There are rare weapons that don't perish according to one review I read.

I get the impression there are definitely going to be more durable weapons, but if they are indestructible I don't know. But overall the general concept that your weapons just explode seems odd.

I did delete and redownload the update and it hasn't crashed in maybe pushing 2 hours, with it on paused quite a lot. But I'm also using it only on the gamepad at the moment. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Half watching the footie, will try it later on the tv, if it works then it was probably something iffy with the update.

I've put 10 hours into this already easily and I don't feel like I've made a dent, only climbed 4 towers outside the central one so far.
