*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

I haven't done any of the main quest past the first area, i've just been running around doing shrines and discovering stuff. The scale is massive.

That sounds horrendous. I've had no crashes yet touch wood.

And I've played quite a fair bit.

ive just done the first main quest part, the Zora quest with the water elephant

did you get the chest inside the large cog?

Further into the game I'm finding harder enemies, but it's not so much as harder in that sense(if I had the same level weapons/armour), it's just they are way higher 'level' without there being anything to really let you know, that group is easy, that group is difficult.

The worst thing is I've now crashed multiple times, probably somewhere like 8-10 times now, and just some horrible performance at various times, mostly excessive smoke/wind effects.

Why have a few extra particle effects that really don't improve the game graphically anyway, but more importantly wouldn't take anything away from the experience if not there. Seen a lot of people reporting that Zelda runs better in handheld mode than docked for Switch users. It's Cell shaded, it has a specific style and looks good on it's own, the effects don't bring much except for a less smooth experience that effects it's playability significantly. These are the things that make me remember why I mostly stick to PC.

The crashing is so infuriating in large part because 99% of the time when my PC game crashes... it's too Windows and it's reload in under 15 seconds. With the ridiculously slow to boot Wii U and not great(nor terrible) loading times it's getting to me. I can't remember another console game that ever crashed on me this much. I think I had 1-2 crashes over all the games I've played on the PS4 put together.

Mine hasn't crashed once and i am playing docked 100%.

What i can't fins is Kokiri village on the map, so I haven't learned the dodge skill yet! I am still as green as the minute like i woke up! Also tried to get all the towers and I think the one at 8 o'clock on the map from the centre I need to be at a higher level because I got there once and it is roam by giant skeleton and guardians on an open plain which little hopeless old me with 3 hears and no stamina cannot outrun or beat them. It feels like the Land of Mordor!

Sounds like the chap with the crashes is running a Wii u mind ;) may be different

This game is the most impressive game I have played. The attention to detail is just fantastic. The way the character interacts with the Environment, The way foot step sounds change depending on the Surface and texture. The handling.
Gameplay is really good. Graphics and sound absolutley in a League of its own. Even dwarfs recent Horizon game with regard to details.

Oh no, what is this, a new a zelda game, another relationship tester :D :D

Haha, yes the lady was well-informed that she may not see me for a while... 3 days ago when the 100/100 reviews hit :D

Concerted effort this morning to go for a run, chuck some laundry in, hoover, munch, then sit down for a monster session.

I has to stop just as I was about to go into the dungeon. So technically haven't done all of it yet :p

I was grinning like a chesire cat all the way through the
pre-dungeon fight and then dungeon. Interested to hear your strat on the boss when you're done.

The frames still hurt, but I'm caring less and less. Only nintendo could get away with this!

Yeah, I'm on Wii U, not Switch. Playing again last night crashed after maybe half an hour of playing. Maybe my Wii U is on it's way out, or maybe it's just unstable as hell. I am doing a lot of fast travelling at the moment, maybe that causes it to be less stable or, I don't know. Getting more and more irritating though.

Maybe the cooling fan on your wii u needs cleaning, ive played for over 16 hours on the wii u,havent had any massive framerate drops or any crashes.

I just got killed by lightning lol! I was like why am I sparking for no reason. Then bang a bolt comes out the sky for no reason (other than the storm of course) brilliant !

Same, I was on one of those big tower and getting ready to jump off to glide down :p

You get these flashing sparles on link and I was like "oooooh, what's this!" then boom! Dead. lol!

I am at the same place :D

I have done about 10 of those so far. Love them!

Yep. He would not buy a Switch, it has an Nvidia GPU in it :p

Haha :D

Watching streams, the frame rate drops are seriously off putting.
That is likely the Wii U version or Switch in docked mode, if you play in portable mode not one frame drop, for me anwyay.

I think I cheated at a Shrine.....:D

At the Shrine by the bottom right village where you control the puzzle with motion/levelling control with the controller like a spirit level to put this giant ball through a maze....

I simply flip the controller upside down and the puzzle on screen also turned upside down and it was a flat surface!!!!
