Gervinho is expected to sign a four year deal.

I've watched a bit of him and like him a lot. Offers a lot on the goals and assists front especially. People might criticise him coming from the French League but that hasn't stopped Nasri and many others.

Assuming it goes through its good to have something to be excited about. :)

ANyway, the thing that is winding me up the most is, Fergie, Dalglish, Mancini seem to be, you know, being managers, chasing players, having talks, signing people and getting on with it.

Arsenal seem to have Wenger off on holiday for weeks, doing smeg all, losing his players, not getting signings sorted while telling everyone he won't be making signings till late July. How many of the players he might be looking at will already have signed for other clubs by then. Is Mata going to feel more wanted by a team that sends a team early June to speak to him, or Wenger, on a sinking ship, who finally wants to talk to him late July, well into preseason training?

If Arsenal went out after the season finished and put pen to paper to bring in Mata, a CB, a DM, would Fabregas consider staying, would Nasri go, would Clichy have signed for City, etc, etc, etc.

To be fair it's more likely the case that Wenger just keeps his mouth shut about potential targets and doesn't go blabbing his mouth off like the other managers.

Excellent, I hope he can come in and start making an impact, quite excited to see what he can do. :)

Haha! Just watched the clip from SSN about Modric from yesterday. Where do these jokers get their info from? :p

Modric on £35k/week and Spurs wage ceiling set at £65k. :D

He's good.

Still young and has a very good goals and assists ratio for club and country:

2010/11

Starts: 52
Goals: 32
Assists: 9

2009/10

Starts: 38
Goals: 17
Assists: 4

2008/09

Starts: 42
Goals: 19
Assists: 8

Seems quite consistent and I think he's only 24.

Hmm. Redknapp seems to have made him target no.1 But he signed a new long term contract in January so he'd cost a bomb.

Rene Meulensteen on Sneijder said:
"The new Paul Scholes doesn't exist, just as a new Roy Keane has never emerged, but Sneijder would fit perfectly here," Meulensteen told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.

"I cannot actually think of a more ideal player for our team.

"I say this not because he's a Dutchman. I've worked here for a while, I know the team inside out and I know he would be a great signing.

"He seems a perfect complement to the likes of (Javier) Hernandez, (Wayne) Rooney, Park (Ji-sung), (Ashley) Young, (Antonio) Valencia, Nani and (Ryan) Giggs.

"And, of course, Wesley has the necessary experience in top-level football.

"I don't know what his future is at Inter, whether he may leave or whether he's affordable. But, purely based on football skills, I say get Sneijder."

What's Spurs transfer budget this Summer? Would they be able to stump up the fee and wages of someone like Rossi?

No idea.

Levy wants people sold before he'll bring people in though, which could point to making transfer funds available, reducing the wage bill, or simply reducing the size of the squad.

I hope he's listened to.

I really wouldn't pay any attention to Meulensteen, he was the one that said Stekelenburg was our no1 goal keeping target. More likely those quotes are to deflect attention away from our real targets

1347: BREAKING - BBC Sport chief football writer Phil McNulty reports that Luka Modric is meeting Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy today where he will be told he is not for sale.

If that's true I can see one unhappy player.

Jesus Christ. He's not even back until tomorrow!

Tottenham's Luka Modric is expected to hold talks with chairman Daniel Levy to discuss his future - and will be told he is not for sale.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to Chelsea, who have a had a £22m bid for the Croatian turned down.

BBC Sport understands the 25-year-old could meet Levy as early as Wednesday evening.

Modric recently hinted he would welcome a move to Chelsea, but Levy responded by insisting he was "not for sale".

So from that it may be tomorrow before they meet.

While I believe Utd think what was quoted this morning as the truth - you have hit the nail on the head that its more likely a deflection from the real target in SAF's mind

The only thing is (not that you mentioned it above) is that Im wondering why Utd waited so long to make a bid for Modric after the only official bid from anyone / Chelsea weeks ago (if he is Utd's target)

Pastore will end up being too expensive also for Utd imo (and questionable whether he is worth the sums being discussed )

could have course be a complete blind side like the Nani & Anderson deals several years ago (which I think were the last ones that really came out of nowhere)
