It's been rumoured for almost as long as the Switch has been around, but yes, it does look like a Pro model is coming, though it's worth noting that this isn't going to be a "Switch 2" by all accounts.
I must be one of the very few Switch users who never uses it as a portable device, so I am very keen to see if they can improve docked performance. No doubt all the talk of 4k will be upscaled using nvidia's technology, but if i can just play Breath of the Wild without going into single digit frames in the forest areas, I'll be happy. But then there is the sequel and will probably have to wait years for another console to play that smoothly.
I feel like this Pro model needs to happen whether they want to make it or not. I know Nintendo dances to the beat of their own drum and the sales show they are right to do that, but I feel they are going to get left behind technologically soon as there is a massive shift to 4k/ray traced gaming over the next few years. I understand the portability is a big selling point for the Switch (not for me), but Valve are apparently releasing a new portable device, and i doubt it would take much for Sony to come up with something in the next few years.
Edit - forget to mention Links Awakening remake, that game should not be suffering the kind of slowdown you experience in it, criminal given how simplistic it looks
