The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

20 hours wow, congrats on such low temps.
Damn that looks like the Strix Owls ugly sister.
Yea bit of chrome or something would be nicer. I dont like that red either. But isnt a tiny card like that made to go into a special smaller case that isnt then displaying anything inside because its tucked away in a living room maybe

So far really impressed with mine.

under volted and over clocked, cooler isn't ridiculously loud and does ok at 4k. About 1600 core and 950 mem @ -156mv, temps around late 60s with fan set to 50% max.

My V56 arrived yesterday, now keeping my V64 company, my workstation is once again a beast! :D

From what I've seen over time I reckon the following to be true;

1) If you are going to mod a Vega to water you need to be aware of whether the "package" is filled or non filled, as the two have different requirements and outcomes with mounting plate contact and heat dissipation to a degree, however both need the following;

2) Both could benefit from a very thin copper shim on top of and bridging the HBM with a very thin layer of TIM on both sides to step it up to the level of the GPU.

3) If you are doing any heatsink replacement you need to be able to tension that puppy down for a decent contact and therefore heat transfer. I suspect that if people are not getting good results with an AIO or even some aftermarket solutions it's because of these reasons.

Ultimately the fact that there is any difference in height between the GPU and the HBM on the package is a ridiculous design flaw. It's designed to be cooled by the one assembly and it should be height consistent but it clearly isn't.

Using the eiswolf i agree with these, although i seemed to negate this by using extra TIM on the hbm part of the package and filling in my non filled grooves on the die.
The thermal pads need to be exact and also yes 3) is very very very very important, you need to get the screws in the right places and tighten them until the cooler is all aligned and compacted.

On a second note,
Can some one very kind please help me increase my power limit from +50% to allow up to +200%.
I have a reg file that used to work but it doesn't anymore and I can't find the post that it came from on here.

How long has that been running at load as those temps are very impressive, especially at 1800mhz and 1200mV.
Though much be cold in that room to be idling at 19℃
Yeah it's pretty cold in here until i run the card like that lol

I knew it was a good one when i was running stock 56 bios and cooler, thats why i found it very necessary to get liquid cooled e.t.c

Do you know of how to change the reg to allow up to +200% powerlimit, i got much better scores using 64 air bios at 1750 core 1100 hbm, that on liquid bios 1750 1100

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 56.

As promised, through a massive adventure of 20+ hours work I finally arrived at success with the eiswolf AIO for vega.

I know it looks sloppy but trust me after 20+ hours and 6 decontructs and reassembles i was on the verge of setting it and myself on fire.

It looks great, I considered taking this route myself but ended up selling my V64, I kinda wish I hadn't sold it now, Great job.
