This Week's New Members

lloydy
Steevo38_OcUK

As Steevo has already sorted his 3rd account I guess it's just lloydy who's new to the fold - welcome to the madhouse :p
If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

Slightly depressing news post this week with all that red on the overview - however with the return of the school borgs just weeks away we should be ok in the long run.
It wouldn't hurt to get the rigs clocked to the max in the meantime though ;)
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now

Sorry to anyone who's been waiting for the news tonight - been a really harsh week at work and needed to get out of the wrong mood first :o

Seems we've lost Sculptor again and a few others must be on their hols - wherever you are hope you're all getting rested ready for a mahoosive stomping spree when we're back to full power

Congrats all the fine Tiffy winners, plenty of activity in the team still even though we're a bit thin on the ground this week - get out those tiffy's and wave 'em about :D

edit: now to have a go with the new-fangled Foldy-sig machine methinks ;)

An ominous week indeed but as you say we're down on some educational buldings are we not?

Think a fair few are on holiday too (slackers) :p

I just managed to scrape into top dumpers :(

Thanks for the news rich :)

So, well I don't usually comment, but I must say I am well pleased with this week's effort from the farm...

...the 3ghz Xeon running a client on both cores probably helped and better quality wu's too.

Best week yet, I think. :D

Argh what a horrible week for me.
Waited 3 days for all my hardware to arrive which all should have arrived on monday, only to find that my htpc board is doa so the 3200+ will have to sit idle for a while.
And my heatsink bracket is gone so i can't get the opty going until i get a new one.
And the pc which was upgraded to an X2 3800+ is giving me problems too. It switches itself off when i plug a network cable in. Also, folding shows 50% cpu utilisation as it should as there is only one client installed, but the utilisation graphs for both cores are all over the place, normally one would be maxed out with folding and the other mostly idle. Any idea whats going on here?

Haven't got round to getting the fileserver up and running again now that i've added a couple of 250gb disks either, so that leave me with the p3 and perhaps a sempron folding intermittently.

Its so annoying that i spent ages making a prefect job of the htpc, tidying the wires etc only to find the board is dead. Now it all has to come apart again and i have to wait weeks while i send it back and get it tested and replaced.

And to top it all, both my new hanns g monitors have dead pixels. I'm used to cheap lcd monitors from my old one, but i'm certainly not used to dead pixels. Now i have to decide if its worth the cost of sending them back at my own expense with the possibility that the new ones could be even worse. :(

So basically, 4 pcs down.

Cor I like this project. You get a tiffy cat in your first week, Stomp all sorts, and find yourself in the top 10 single crunchers :D

I suspect it might not be quite so rosy next week, as I inch my way up the totals.

Yes, you have to keep adding folding power to keep the excitement going. I've been stuck between #70 and 80 for ages. But soon i'll be moving swiftly upwards again... can't wait to start stomping a few slackers. ;)

Hello again everybody!

Just got back. Good folding everyone. The machine's been off some of the time due to the ridiculous heat - hottest July for many years right? The 24hr average should be back up in no time. Hope everybody enjoyed the weather and it didn't cause any meltdowns.

Had enough time just now to mess with the amazing new sig generator. Incredible work Mr. null, absolutely great :) Uploaded my own protein background especially.

Nice work Rich! Hoping all the new borgs will kick in when the school merry-go-round starts again.

I also echo Joey's thoughts on the sig builder - superb work sah!

Thanks for the news rich as as requested here my Tiffy-Kat (with intrest)
cert.php

And thanks to null for the sig generator - will be frequently used :D

Poor week for me, down 3k due to my much publicised friday off / weekend shutdown fesasco (but not this week, sorry magman, I'm not letting you stomp me that easily :p )

Looks as if most of the small pointed WU have gone - getting 2-400 pointers on all my farm now (but still getting just over 110ppd for them :( ) first batch are finishing today so look out for a leap forward, what I am happy about is that dispite 10 plus cores being tied up with these large WU I'm still getting well over 1k a day (mostly due to home rig clocking 200-400 ppd - or 2 hours uploading per night  ). Very little down time this week due to servers/heat/or staff which also helped.

I'd just like to bring people attention to Magman compertition thread - get your thinking hats on fokes. <:O)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the jumping about is fairly nomal.
If a process isn't assigned a specific affinity it'll use both cores. Unfortunatly you can't assign the fah cores an affinity :(

Was just having a look at our stats page, and would like to thank and congratulate our top 20 producers. Of particular mention I think are our 1.6k+ producers - Gazzza, Babyface_UK, and br. Since DarkendViper's production has stopped (hopefully temporarily  ?) you guys are the big players in the team. Keep it up chaps :)

I think the reason i haven't seen that before is my opty normally has both cores folding. So i'll just get a 2nd cilent installed and that should be fine.
Now i've got to see how it clocks... :p

In the continuing faulty/dead hardware saga, my router has had it aswell. Dhcp over wireless has never worked as it should, but its got worse and now its not working over wired either.

Oh yeah the SiriusB has returned to stomp you slackers once again!

Probably give it a few days before I am up to full production on the stats pages but I have just started my second set of 153 pointers since coming home Wednesday plus the WUs that were only half-finished when I switched my PC not on.

These 153 pointers are pretty good - I think I got 230PPD on the last lot.

Woah... stop the press... I just updated the project info in FaHMon... turns out only one is a 153 pointer... the other is a 535 pointer!! :D Project 1862.

No accurate ETA yet but looking at how long 1 frame took I should be dumping it Sunday evening at the earliest.

SiriusB

EDIT: Anyone know why my sig isnt working? :( It's one of null's so I can only assume something is broken on his end.

Check the code, probably a space somewhere which shouldn't be there. Mine's nulls and is fine.

Nice wu's there sah :) .

As above or flag Billy (the all knowing) down if he's passing your cyberstreet - sorted out my Sig out (rule infringement because i had u and r together - still don't know how he 'captured' its url - i only ever get a fragment on the properties dialog box.

If all else failes Null will fix it in a nano-second :D

edit: - it's working must be a part of the text you entered into the prefix box
