That's because it's not :p

Although iirc, DF found that when doing super quick 180s, textures were already loaded in or/and loaded in quicker if you had more vram.
Remember when I said VRAM saturation can show various different symptoms, depending on how saturated the capacity is, how the game engine handles this situation etc?

That was not just me talking about of my bottom. :p

I've got Deathloop but it never interested me. Gonna have to download it now though and see how it runs. :D

Chances are he either is just looking at allocated vram or has a problem with his system like some other dude did a while ago where he always had much higher vram usage than everyone in a particular game as I recall.

You are probably right Matt. Good thing next gen cards with more vram are around the corner then I suppose :D

I have not had any issues since completing Dying Light 2. As far as I recall that has been the only game where I had a few vram issues.

Are they really, interesting. :D
You know something I don’t? :p

My understanding is they will be out some point this year based on rumours. But who really knows. The next game I am interested in playing that will likely be taxing is Starfield at the end of the year anyway and Bethesda games are known to be buggy on release so happy to wait 3-6 months if next gen cards slip until 1H of 2023 :D

In the meantime I have my new and shiny Alienware QD-OLED monitor which has given old games I have planned on revisiting a nice boost in image quality ;):D

I have never disputed things like textures loading, frame latency spikes/stutters, fps drop as that is all what I would expect from a vram capacity shortage. What I disputed was FPS dropping to single digits without ever returning to normal even after changing settings in the menu.... ;)

Here's the bit about deathloop from DF:

I'll get the game when it is either dirt cheap or eventually ends up on gamepass (which I am expecting to be soon)

I think DL uses more vram if it can as I do recall someone saying it was using 20GB on their 3090 @ 4k but as we have seen with likes of godfall and resident evil village and a couple other titles which use all the vram they can, when it comes down to sheer performance, it doesn't help much, if at all (within reason obviously)

Talk of Resident Evil Village. Got it installed and will be playing that soon. Such a nice improvement on image quality that game with the Alienware QD-OLED, that I fancy playing it again in HDR :D

Might first complete Shadow of. Tomb Raider though. Another title that looks fantastic on this monitor.

Never heard of deathloop being a vram hog. My guess is mods or it is showing you allocated vram rather than what is needed :)

Yeah, 5000 series will be sweet, I will upgrade to that too :D

First Vram figure is allocated, second is the process useage.

Nah, no problem with my system, do a search, Deathloop is a Vram hog, one 3090 user said it used 21Gb on his PC, and apparently not a game fault.

Never heard of that game having vram issues. I would have imagined Matt and his posse would have been all over it :p:cry::D

I said it's apparently not a game fault, but maybe it does have a memory leak, who knows.

I'll have to play it a bit more and see if the Vram alloc/process useage increases over time.

Like I said in another reply, do a quick search, plenty of high Vram useage reports for this game.

Well yeah, you can say it's a vram hog which I suppose is technically true but does it cause performance issues? From an initial look, not really.

From looking at the patch notes, it looks like the game has had quite a few of them too since its original 2021 release date i.e.

I also recall of the game having some serious stutter issue which was tied to the mouse settings, DF did a good video on it, I believe that is fixed though.

I don't have the game yet so can't really comment but will upload some footage as soon as I do get it.

Yeah dark games absolutely shine on OLED especially with HDR.

Not usually a big fan of lego games but the star wars one is very good and visually one of the most impressive games I have seen to date, incredible the amount of detail in a world of "lego"

Remeber when I said the AMD sponsored FC6 with its HD pack was almost certainly written to cause issue with cards using less than 12GB of VRAM...

Yes. You were wrong then and you are wrong now. I don't think you've ever been right about anything Wrinkly in all these years. Pretty sure I could ask you what the time is and you would give me your postcode.

Here's another radical viewpoint. It's an optional download (that's not even included with the base game) to improve graphics texture quality, if you have enough video memory on your graphics card to use it.

As you have admited before Matt, it's above your paygrade

Yep. Loving it. Even non dark ones like HZD are fantastic.

Never tried a lego game and also not much of a Star Wars guy, well not the new ones since Disney purchased them anyway. More of a Star Trek guy myself, though the new stuff is mostly crap with that also. I mainly like 80's and 90's Star Trek but they don't get as many games unfortunately.

I have bought Far Cry 6 2 minutes ago since I got it for a reasonable price (£20), I will be testing at 2560x1440 with my RTX 3070, I want to see how badly it runs on my card, I think my resolution is a fair res to use since the GPU is not 4K capable in these later games so am using a realistic res and one I use personally.

I am going to work at 5pm and this won't be downloaded by then so will update you all.
