AMD sponsored title getting good gains from AMD hardware, what a surprise.....
Not surprised though with FC 6 due to its poor CPU optimisation and being all about single core perf.
Pretty tempted to upgrade from my 5600x but 2 things:
- my 5600x is a golden sample it seems, -30 undervolt across all cores and very silent + runs cool, 5800x and above runs pretty hot so I would also need a new cooler
- playing at 3440x1440 and 4k, doesn't seem worth the outlay atm
Would it really though? I mean you can get 3060 with more VRAM than the 2080Ti, I don't consider that a slap in the face, it's just that typically VRAM increases with later generations, having more VRAM isn't much use if you don't have the grunt to go with it.
Exactly.
People seem to ignore that or don't get it.
We only have 1 possible title so far where it has shown issues but if you look at the big picture i.e. the people with 3090s and 3080tis etc.
who do meet the "requirements" posting that they are also having fps drop, to me, that indicates that something isn't quite right especially when not "every" site and user are reporting issues.
TBH, best thing to do would be for someone who gets these FPS drops to test the game with max settings, HD texture pack and RT at 720p, that way you are largely reducing vram bottlenecks/issues, see what happens then
Whatever we conclude in this thread, sadly it does seem for the foreseeable future DF will remain the only reviewer to check for things like texture stream quality and frequency of flush and restream. The rest of the industry seems happy enough to just check FPS.
Problem is the narrative.... DF pointed out the stutters and texture pop in/rendering on FC 6 happening on consoles too but a few ignored that bit or didn't believe it because it didn't fit the narrative
It's only when they point out something wrong/bad about nvidia that they all of a sudden become reputable/good, much like what has recently happened with TPU and HU
As for deathloop, got recordings but it captured my desktop/main monitor instead of the game, will try again (suspect I'll need to make my 4k display the main one) but FPS matches up with computerbase.de in terms of lows and average although my average fps seemed to be higher on the whole, frame latency line was flat with 2 hitches but didn't look vram related, at least vram usage wasn't particularly high at the time unless assets were being purged/swapped, didn't see texture pop in either, including the same spot DF used for their example, will try recording again.
DLSS improves fps by a decent chunk and looks better. Deathloop badly needs FSR 2 already as it looks bloody awful with FSR 1. When exactly are games going to get upgraded to FSR 2
@LtMatt ? Wasn't it suppose to be very easy and quick to implement, especially if said games already have TAA or DLSS implemented?
Must say though deathloop looks stunning, textures look great (some even look better than FC 6 textures) and the design of the gameworld is what you would expect from bethesada.
