Lets see some more! :D

Hi there

Not on UK roads I am afraid. :)

Needless to say it carries on accelerating in a similar fashion right upto 160ish and beyond this I've never tried more as then its into 5th and I've just never tried going for a top speed run, preferre the acceleration more than anything, its very addictive especially on exiting a corner. :D

What engine is in it?

the Usual Windsor V8 ford use?

Hi there

4.6l V8 Modular 3V engine which outputs 300BHP stock. However its got uprated injectors, spark plugs, fuel pump, MAF, CAI, Long Tube Headers and Race cats.

Oh and I nearly forgot about the 2.3l Saleen Twin-Screw supercharger and the car is now running a safe and conservative 530BHP ish. :)

why we timing this from a constant speed?

Obviously favouring you high Torque/non turbo people ;) :D

60-100 times are done on a run for example, not from slamming your throttle at a steady 60 :)

Out of interest Andy...

If you were to tune the absolute **** out of it at its current spec (and maybe compromise its reliability a little), what could you get power wise?

Hi there

Yep thats what I always thought, that such timings were always done on a run, but hey I doubt its hurt my time much. :D

Think my 60-100 time in 3rd on a run is something like 4.5s area. :)

But surely an NA car with the same power should be quicker?

Turbo engines take longer to get going as without the turbo spinning, there's nothing there.

Hi there

When you say this do you mean just by tuning or fitting further smaller pullies without changing engine internals and further tuning?

Well, at first I was thinking about just tuning, but say you fitted a smaller pulley (that's what increases the boost right?) to the maximum that your current internals could take safely.

Hi there

Well with the current pulley left in, further fuel could be removed from the tune making it more borderline but creating more power. The timing could also be advanced another 2-4 degrees. Basically I think some with my pulley size are running 550-560BHP so quite an improvement, especially if Powerstations dyno does over-read slightly.

Some people on the stock engine go down to the 3.20 pulley which is basically 12psi. My car has a 3.60 pulley, hence 7.5psi.

Basically the guys who tuned my car I believe took there engine to the 650-700BHP range before they put a stroker unit in and went for a reliable 700+

Its basically all down to the tune, the JDM guys have never lost an engine, but the Saleen blower helps because its the least stressful to the engine out of all the blowers available.

However some cars with bad tuning or running the cars standard maf which causes leaning past 5000rpm have had engines let go at 550ish, but when correctly tuned they seem happy at 600 horses.

One guy running close to 600 horses dismantled his engine after 60,000 miles expecting to see lots of signs of wear, yet he spotted none and hence JDM's and Saleen's reputation for putting a great setup and tune together. :)

That's very interesting stuff, and impressive to say the least

Looks like Ford/Saleen seriously over-engineered that engine then. An extra ~250bhp at a modest 7.5psi...

As someone else mentioned earlier in the thread, what's the story with the Mustang? Has the guy who was supposed to be buying it pulled out? (Tell me to mind my own business :))

Hi there

First guy pulled out, money issues. Second guy I have £1000 off his money and supposedly the rest will be in my bank by Friday and he collects car Saturday.

Am really gonna be sad to see this one go. :(

Yes the engine in the new Mustangs is actually in the top 10 worlds best engines these last 3 years. Think its like 3rd or 4th position. It rates so well because it is very cheap and mass produced, no failures, good MPG and as you can see can be seriously well tuned to over double its original output without much fuss. :)

Says its sold on pistonheads. Im pretty sure he said someones gave him a £1k deposit from a car detailing firm and is picking it up this weekend. Could well be wrong though.

Edit - Beaten by the man himself :)

Hi there

Here is mine:-
http://media.putfile.com/Saleen-Mustang---30-70mph-acceleration-Takes-28s

Using the online stop watch it comes out between 2.6-2.9s its that quick its a little hard to time.

30-80mph seems to take 3.5s and obviously the acceleration carries on a similar fashion all the way upto 165mph, hence why the only things that have kept up or overtaken have generally been motorbikes. :)

P.S. Where is a good place to host the file because that putfile website seems crap?

EDIT You tube link:-

Low fuel!!

But sounds amazing, and damn thats fast acceleration :D

I think most of the motors forum will miss it as well it had such presence at meets and was always a convasation piece people gathering round just to get a glimpse of it.

You decided on a replacement yet M3 CSL, Z06?
