8700K OcUK Stock and Binned Processors

Just to follow up on Gibbo's post, I understand if it's not possible to give a solid answer to this but for those that ordered early in the morning of the 8th (Friday morning) would there be a chance they're included in the stock shipping on fri/sat or will it likely be another weeks wait? I assumed I'd be waiting until the week ending 21st or 28th anyway so no big deal either way.

Appreciate the transparency surrounding the stock issues.

@8 Pack can I ask, have you ever done a video on the whole process from start to end of binning and delidding. Considering the tone of this thread I want to emphasise its not so criticism can be given but I for one would genuinely be interested in seeing the process from end to end, i.e. taking off the tray, testing, delidding, relidding, testing, checking stability and then going up for sale. I find these type of videos informative. Can I also suggest a section on the forum dedicated to video done not just by 8 pack but also the rest of the OCUK staff, I am sure it would be very time consuming and time is probably limited but I am sure I would not be the only one interested in this type of content.

@Gibbo ...can't argue with any of your post TBH. The OP should consider linking to Gibbo's explanation post in post#1.

I see the delid info is now added to the product description, again a good move as IMO this is a major factor in the value of the item.

Personally, I'm impressed at the level of transparency shown here. I'm also one of the people who took OcUK up on the no questions asked offer of a refund on my pair of 970's when a similar thread erupted regarding VRAM, and it's why I'll continue to shop here. :)

We've been talking about it behind the scenes but we don't want to give too much away especially RE our delidding process which has been perfected by one of our technicians. 8pack firmly believes this method has produced the most consistent results for his chips. From start to finish the whole process for a single chip takes over an hour. Speed binning itself takes 10-15 mins but delidding and retesting and making sure it's done correctly takes about another hour on top sometimes longer if the technician isn't happy. A blog post explainign the process with some photos might be achievable though it's ultimately upto 8pack but we certainly don't want to divulge a few things we do differently from our competitors.

Pretty much sums it up, you did nothing wrong end of story and the open approach to business is why i'm spending my money here and not elsewhere. It's laughable its caused so much outrage, keep up the good work you big cheese Gibbo ;)

@8 Pack any news on the Apex arrival dates - I know the bundle will include binned CPU but I've already got my retail on order from launch (to delid myself), possible deal on that too or i'll just get the board/mems as they come individually? Be good to get a pre-order in to secure one of the first batch, along with the others spamming that thread.

Cheers!
Apex is available as soon as stock arrives. Taiwan has been on public holiday till today so I will get an update today.

My retail board is here previously I had ES so I presume they are very close to retail channels.

Your best idea would be to order board cpu and memory in bundle without cooler. Thus us coming very soon choose the bin Cpu you want and away you go. I keep some binned cpu's for my bundles always so you will get a cpu.

No this won't happen as we carry out extra processes that we don't want to share.

Already #6 in line for the retail CPU so buying binned isn’t of interest for me, just want to make sure I can get the board and mems before they are all gone for these bundles... might just add the memory to my order now just in case.

That's fair enough, but I think a sticky post in the CPU/Overclocking forums detailing what a de-lidded/binned CPU is and which type stock you take them from etc (i.e. system oem only etc) would hopefully alleviate some of the same questions keep popping up on every new CPU release.

Sorry, but where are the 8700k bundles in the store? I don't see them....
