How on earth did you manage to read that, blink and it's gone, i'm impressed.

Just watched this trailer again, I always thought with the earlier trailer that Scott had "borrowed" heavily from the Fire & Stone graphic novels, this seems to confirm it. Just need an errant engineer to appear or one of the androids to be slightly infected by the goo/spores and it would confirm it.
 
ooooo i tried watching the 2nd trailer again last night and it had gone, only to be replaced with a better version this morning. Awesome. The start is different in the revamped version, more greenery, i like it. It looks like a really scary horror movie blended with Jurassic Park/Predator.

I had to freeze it but i'm pretty sure it says DR E SHAW. There was a theory kicking around that the bio-mech xeno is infused with android/synthetic tech; wouldn't be surprised if that eventually happens although i doubt in this movie. At this point i'm just wondering where the 'covenant' angle of the movie is going to take us. I know it's the ships name but (like Prometheus) there'll be more to it than that. Covenant between who and what?

Little tip. Pause youtube and use the < > keys to advance / rewind frame by frame.
 
I'm a massive Alien fan, this also includes Prometeus as I thought it was superb..

Anyway, is it worth digging into the other material like the novels? If yes, where would I start?

May as well dip yer toes in and see if it's your thing. There's a mountain of material outside of the movies. For a start there's the dark horse stuff: https://digital.darkhorse.com/series/104/aliens
Then there's the new novels starting with Alien - Out of the Shadows (which i haven't read) and it's sequels.
And if you haven't played Alien: Isolation you really should.

Thanks for the info!

Alien Isolation was recently recommended to me in the gaming section so I started it last night.

I am very interested in anything that add to the mythology of the Engineer -> Xenomorph universe..

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have spotted the similarity :)

This is probably one of the 3 or 4 films that I'll definitely aim to see at the cinema this year, along with Logan (this week), Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Wars.

It helps that I picked them all up in the comixology sales over xmas so they're fresh in my mind.

I NEED to see this at the cinema, however my baby is due 4th May so I may end missing this on the big screen :(

3:SURVIVE... brilliant!!! would give hope Daniels will make it to the sequel:cool::)
 
Yep fears so far have been avoided. Looks like a film resembling what we want. With regards to the follow on from Prometheus I did read that the new "David" turns evil (possibly due to what he trod on) and that the Prometheus David fights with him. There must be some link to the other film/earth as who grew the wheat ?
