Alien: Isolation...

Need to do anything special to get it working? Last time I tried it I couldn't get full (6 axis) head tracking working....

Using Notepad, change the ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML in the DATA folder to this:

<Setting name=”Stereo Mode”>
<Quality name=”Rift” precedence=”4″/>
<Quality name=”Off” precedence=”4″/>
</Setting>

Set the Oculus to extended mode.
In the Oculus Configuration utility, pause the service.
Start the game, play and enjoy.

Mission 13:

How on earth do you deal with the androids in the anti-static suits?

Don't take them on if you can help it. Get away, hide, use distractions, move when you can. Essentially a summary of what I loved and hated (but predominantly loved) about the game.

I appreciated this game more than I enjoyed it, iykwim. Loved the atmosphere, the tension and attention to detail, didn't get on with the actual gameplay :)

REALLY not enjoying this game. I’m stopping short of calling in terrible.

The first problem I have is combat. I had to put it on easy, as it was WAY to hard. And those androids... how do you kill them?

It turns in to a Benny Hill sketch of them chasing me around, me twonking them once then running off. So boring. Seriously.

I’m doing this wrong, but how else are you meant to hit those androids. Bullets are few and wasted as it takes about 4 shoots to kill them. but hitting them with hammer, unless unaware they just block.

This game is a chore and laborious.

Probably because this isn't exactly a game about combat, it's a game about avoiding it if anything :o

The Androids can be taken down with ease, you just have to look at the devices you can make and the tools at your disposal. It's a survival game were combat is the very very last option, approach the game with a different aspect and circumvent the problems in front of you.

and in other news > Alien: Isolation leads 2015 BAFTA Game Awards nominations < :)

The brilliant, British-made Alien: Isolation has scooped six nominations for this year's BAFTA Game Awards - more than any other title.

Creative Assembly's claustrophic sci-fi creepfest is up for Best Game, British Game, Game Design, Game Innovation, Music and Audio Achievement awards.

Lost Contact DLC pack # 4 is out now............my god its just as dull as the other DLC. They have put minimal effort into the DLC which is such a shame as the main game is awesome the DLC should have been free since day 1.

OK. So change of approach. Sneaky/Running away.

I'll get through the game, but this isn’t really my type of game really.

Kind of cool, when the alien turns up etc and you have to hide then sneak off, but still find the game laborious.

Sneak about and make the most of noise makers/flashbangs if you find it difficult.

Thanks

I managed to find the terminals to take them down - they're tough but once you get the bolt gun, it's a totally different power shift :)

Soooooo, I got this and I'm playing it bit by bit with my gf.... My god it's atmospheric!

I know! I've managed to get back into it and really enjoying it now. You start of kind of cautious and slow, but once you learn the limits, you can move quicker. I've seen some really silly videos with players walking up behind the alien - blind as a bat :D

Oh and don't forget the 8K reflections :eek: :D
