Alien: Isolation...

Finally picked up Alien:Isolation yesterday and played a few hours. Love it, great twist on the first person format to be the hunted rather than hunter!

Couldn't get crossfire to play ball though, had lots of nasty flickering. It's running butter smooth maxed at 2560x1600 on a single 280x though so no biggie.

You running latest drivers 14.12 ?? Crossfire should work.

Really really struggling to enjoy this.

The thing thats getting me, is the irregularity of the save points. :(

I could spend an hour playing the game and actually make 0 progress as I never get to save it before the Alien gets me.

Not fun. It's super rare, that I dont play through a game however bad, but Im thinking of skipping this for now, moving on to Dying Light and coming back.

whats the best way to play this game k&m or xbox 360 controller?
any tips? just about to start playing as the missus watches the adventure.

It's not a precision shooter so 360 wireless controller was fantastic but I'd say it's more important to play with headphones.

The sound design in this game is seriously incredible.

Just got this and gave it a try on the Oculus DK2 that first load up in the space suit was Unreal! can't wait to play more of this now.

Have you applied any changes for the readability menus and screens etc? I started playing a day or two ago on the oculus and this is the only thing that is bothering me about it. Other than that it's really cool.

No Epoch I've just been struggling with the text/HUD and menu's If there is a fix that would be great! I know in Elite Dangerous changing it to green helps a lot.

Just finished the main game and both film setting dlcs (on easy which I think is the usual medium difficulty setting, it's still plenty hard enough, but you get a bit more flamethrower fuel and alien doesn't spawn non stop)... One of the greatest games ever IMHO, best game since DeusEx:HR

goes without saying that this is the best Alien game of all time by far.

Wouldnt go that far.

But after really struggling in the early parts of the game, I am actually kind of enjoying it now....

Im on mission 11 of 19. I would give it a 7/10 so far.

To all who didn't finish it, play on easy so as not to have alien spawning around you nonstop (which is more annoying than anything- that's on medium, no idea about hard) and play at least until the medical facility, early levels are not that great... But From medical onwards, the atmosphere is just superb. The second movie dlc has just perfect atmosphere and aesthetics too, great great game.

Tempted to get this from Kinguin but there appear to be a number of different version to choose from. Which is the best one to go for?

Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation - Ripley Edition
Alien: Isolation - Nostromo Edition
Alien: Isolation - Digital Deluxe Edition

Ripley Edition it includes 2 x DLC thats alright & worth bothering with. Or just buy the std edition cheapest then buy the DLC later in a sale.

I can tell you now the Season Pass (Deluxe Edition) is IMO a waste of money all 5 DLC pieces are just too samey to be worth buying unless very cheaply.

The main game is superb but most of the DLC is pretty poor (apart from the 2 Ripley Edition pieces one is the last mission from the end of the movie Alien with Ripley) as it offer no real variety & looks the same/plays the same.
