Alien: Isolation...

How scary is this?

We're starting to see some good prices, but as I get older, I'm not the best with games that are going to scare me. I remember bricking myself at the original film - but it was so amazing.

Don't play it with headphones on in same room as girlfriend coz she will laugh and take the p when u jump outta your skin

Make sure you play it on hardcore!! Yes it's much harder but makes it much more of an adrenaline ride!

I thought that easy was plenty hard enough (still much harder than usual "medium" in most games) and also more realistic as Alien doesn't spawn every 10 seconds like he does on medium and you dont run out of flamethrower fuel after 3 bursts. Not even tried it on hard :)

Totally agree that this is by far the greatest Alien game of all time. Just perfect atmosphere and pacing, even in the Nostromo DLC, particularly the second one.

Bought this the other day and I am enjoying it, but if I'm honest I think I'm finding it more frustrating than scary.

I wouldnt say its scary per se, it's more about suspense and tension. Alien feels like family by the end of the game (so not scary), but the feeling of tension is still there in spades.

To alleviate frustration, play on easy ;)

Might start this finally, is this game ok to play with a pad? Hoping to sit in lounge on big TV in the dark but would need to play with a pad this way though.

Yes, it is perfectly fine with a pad. Whilst it is a first-person game, there is no actual shooting so you don't really need to aim much.

Dark room+headphones= EPIC!

Pad is the way to play imo, analogue stick is great for peeking around objects, and also for controlling walking speed.

Alien Isolation... people don't have the guts to say it so I will; it's the best game I've ever played.

Seriously.

In my top five, certainly. And the most atmospheric game that I've ever played.

Sweet jesus....just been playing on the Oculus. Brown pants time, I had to tear the headset off the first time it found me hiding in a cupboard.

If you liked it on a monitor, you gotta try it in VR. Pretty decent implementation too.

Yup i did the same, lasted 5 mins before getting jumpy cos of the androids.

I love how on some playthroughs the androids seem to change from happy mode to angry-kill-me mode, not sure if its a glitch but I like it.

The alien got me in one section so I had to restart, whereas before an android was just walking about saying hello, on the next playthrough I had mr. grumpy red eyes chasing me and the friggin alien. Depsite my efforts I was hunted down and dispatched by the gruesome twosome.

Did you do anything different in the second attempt since if a working Joe turns up when you're trying to defend yourself against the alien it can easily class you as a thread and go into red eye kill anyone mode (I've seen this in a play through video where a blast of the flame-thrower in an attempt to scare off the alien ended up with the working Joe that was nearby going red eye and had to be dealt with as well).
