Alien: Isolation...

How the chuff are we supposed to know that without seeing reviews or playing it?

So you haven't watched videos of this

I'm guessing there won't be much replay value with this game.

It seems a chance wasted with the style of game they want with some features lacking.

Videos yes, but until we know how good the game actually is then we dont know the replay value.

Lack of any multiplayer is a critical flaw imo.

It should have replayability on the basis that the Alien events aren't scripted and can occur at pretty much anytime.

Marketing tosh if ever ive read it.

While im sure the game will be pant wettingly scary on the first playthrough im not convinced how it will be on multiple playthroughs, or once you have seen the same jumpscare a few times, hidden in the same locker a few times etc.

What im most excited about is the sounds and ambience as they will be the real killer if not up to scratch.

The clanking of the chains in the nostromo scene when Brett got killed for example, or the watter dripping like rain, the whirrs and hums of the computers, blip of the motion sensor etc.

Ive no doubt i will get it once ive seen how the reviews fare, but deffo not a pre order for me.

That was my point though, it won't always be the same spot, it's the USP of this game.

I'm letting myself get hyped for this, even after the terrible CM, just hope it doesn't let me down.

Multiplayer is not needed in a good single player. We did fine without it in the past and we can still do fine today if the SP side of things are spot on. Again, look at Wolfenstein as a modern example.

I wonder how it will feel compared to Amnesia?

I found that game ridiculously tense to play, but once I'd died to the monsters the first time(yes I failed), I found the game pretty unscary.

Same with the sequel (Pigs), you had about 80% of the game of build up, only hearing noisy and subliminal 1-frame of 'what was that?'. Then after you see the pigs, or get killed by one, it suddenly loses it's scariness.

They are completely different games, and stock FPS multiplayer has been done so many times for the last decade plus, that who cares if Wolfenstein doesn't have it? New Order is a great game, but the gameplay hearkens back to the old classic FPS's with the advantage of better tech to make better set pieces. It's nothing original.

My point is thaton the other hand, Alien: Isolation appears to have some original and possibly even unique gameplay in it which could lend itself particularly well to 4 player competitive survival games, especially with an adaptive Alien AI that you could send after other players by concocting fiendish traps etc. Would be immensely satisfying.

because not every game needs or is better for having an MP mode.

Completely illogical... a good MP mode is hardly going to hurt a good SP game. A bad MP mode of course but a good one? There is no reason not to want a well-implemented one whatsoever.

That does sound like it would be a fun way to do a multiplayer. Stuck on a small space station with a one man escape pod and one alien. Each player trying to complete a few objectives to be able to use the pod, while avoiding the alien and simultaneously trying to lure it towards the other players :D

Exactly... would be tense as hell!
