Alien: Isolation...

I can't offer any help but it took me quite a while - longer than an hour - to complete that bit too (playing on hard), I did thoroughly enjoy it though.

Just keep at it, take your time and wait for an opportunity, obviously easier said than done!

I take it it's because its so scary and intense? Its part of the reason I'm not sure whether to buy it or not (even though I know I ultimately will). I have the blu ray box set of Alien and I haven't watched it yet, despite buying it ages ago. And I think its maybe similar. I love the films but I know they are so intense that part of me doesn't want to watch them.

Anyway I'm sounding like a pussy now, so I'll get my coat....

It's the erratic behaviour of the alien that creates the suspense, just when you think it's safe to come out of hiding you open a door to find the thing standing right in front of you. Running is pointless so with your heart pounding and more dirty pants you accept your fate.

It's a genuinely creepy and well made masterpiece of a hide and seek game, as a fan of the Alien movies I love this game a lot. It's like a breath of fresh air in a time littered with franchise sequels.

Thanks, I'll definitely buy it at some point. I just wonder if I'll keep playing it, knowing its going to mess with my mojo lol

It's probably the only game I've ever played where it feels like I'm experiencing genuine fear but after a couple of deaths you sort of semi get used to it, but saying that I still look away when the alien gets me! A heart rate monitor would be highly entertaining to keep an eye on while you're playing.

I remember being sat as a child totally terrified watching the film when it first came out so I imagine there's some psychological trauma/damage there somewhere, much like Jaws has stopped me swimming in the sea!

Thoroughly enjoying it so far, have really taken my time to soak it all in and make the game last as long as I can.

Headphones, lights off, no distractions = very immersive.

You can? I need to look into that.

Ha, so you can and I never knew. I thought if I pressed left mouse it'd just fire the gun.

Cheers!

I've even tried to scare the alien with the flamethrower and it just jumps for me and grabs me!

I did find however, taking out the android worked very well with a pipe bomb on the ground!

Pro reviews LOL. Hipsters hyping a game, then trashing it because that's the cool thing to do. Hey, at least brings traffic through your website.

AngryJoe has a nice honest review on the game. ...But it's AngryJoe :p Not everyone's cuppa.

That reminds me of the Twitter battle between them and Angry Joe.

They were upset that the IGN website was in the background of his Titanfall review as he was slamming companies for telling gamers to "Believe The Hype" and they actuality insisted that they never told people to Believe the hype... even though every single Titanfall trailer had those very words with IGN as the quote!

So yeah I guess they've been making quite a few blunders and slowly destroying their reputation.

Finally just finished the game, thoroughly enjoyable.

I must admit I was slightly wanting it to end during the last few missions and feel quite relieved it has now. Need to go play Sonic or something to calm my nerves!

Think I'm a little past the half way point at the moment and in a rush now as I have Far Cry 4 to start. Loved this one so far. Can see why it might be an acquired taste but I can't remember a game with this much atmosphere and tension.

It was the Angry Joe review that sold me on this as I was undecided up until I watched that.

Completed this afternoon. Utterly brilliant game. Spoiled a tiny bit by the rushed ending, but that would simply knock it down from a 9.5 to a 9, at a push.

I will play all the DLC, although might give myself a little rest because that was 1 intense game!

Sequel can't come quick enough for me!

Yeah, gonna wait a few weeks before I play the DLC stuff too.

Just looking for a game to play that is going to keep me as entertained as this did. Might give Dead Space 2 a go, never played that and loved the first one.
