Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Had my first full bounty meter with about 5 bounty hunters chasing me around a fort :D (was enjoying it until a bounty hunter 4 levels higher appeared).

Eliminated the boar. Quite easy after the war elephants of origins! I love that you can complete quests without having taken them on.

Can’t believe how impressive the game looks while running so well.

I'm Lv23 now but struggling to find decent gear, I have a mix of epic and legendary stuff but it's about 2 levels lower than me so fights are difficult and tiring at times.

The game is really opening up now I'm terms of places to visit and I am glad because traversing around Athens is just tiring and dull without some method of fast travel. I miss some of the things that made a city feel lively - pick pocketing and fleeing from the victim, varied shops that sold different stuff, NPC's giving you challenges to part take in etc. Cities whilst beautiful, feel somewhat bland too.

Noticed that some of the AI is, as with some AC/Ubisoft titles absolutely stupid. I've done some kills in full view of another guard and he never even noticed!

This is my biggest pet peave with the game and know many others are complaining on the official forums. Cost to upgrade Legendary stuff is wayyyyyy to expensive. Right now to upgrade the chest Legendary piece for example, costs about 5k gold and over 2000 in material for a single item alone to move from level 23 to level 26. Now for those who have the Pegasuses armour with 5 pieces (excldinng the sword) its about 15k gold and 6000 odd in material to move up from level 23 to level 26. Absolutely massive amount and does need adjusting. Yet upgrading a blue item from level 5 to level 26 costs couple of k gold and couple of 100 material, scaling is way off.

That does sound a little high. Is it like Origins where you are better off waiting until a much higher level to upgrade it? I never bothered with Origins except for when I had the very best rare items and then reached max level.

Amazing to think how long I have been in just one small location. Still working on discovering it all. Have barely been on my ship.

I'm level 35 now and I havent upgraded a single item. I've had so much loot drop that I've just not needed to, almost every level I get at least 1 gold item. Playing on hard and although some fights are tough I've never struggled with gear. I've upgraded the ship of course but my actual gear I havent upgraded at all.

Why would you want to constantly upgrade the best gear as you level. It's like trying to cheese the game?
Some legendary gear has such decent stats that you'd want to keep and carry it with you throughout the game. I hardly ever used the feature in Origins but can see that it was a useful one. I read somewhere of someone complaining that upgrading a piece of his gear required 400 obsidian amongst other things in Odyssey though!

Yeah better off waiting till higher level to upgrade. Cost does increase however to make a bigger upgrade, but it would be cheaper going from say level 10 to level 20 in gear compared to going level 10 to 15 then to 20.

Yeah you don't need to upgrade and plenty just swap armour in and out. To be honest it likely aggravates those who pick up the gear from the store, the peguses kit for myself. Such awesome looking gear, but very very expensive to upgrade.

Its not quiet cheesing the game as it sounds, you will not have enough to afford to upgrade all the best gear to keep at the same level anyways as your character Costs too much material and the XP you even get from harvesting enough resources means you will often level up while trying to harvest the items for your current level equipment so you you will always be behind in terms of levelling higher quality gear. Hence in terms of actual stats and damage you can buy or upgrade blue or purple items to keep in line with your character and overall offer more damage or Armour then gold bits which are a few levels behind. In this game the legendary stuff is hardly better then the epic stuff thanks to the engraving aspect.

Read earlier that respecs are pretty cheap. Good to hear. Apparently poison is better than fire, but fire is so cool. Interesting change to the weapon effect mechanics. Have taken on the damage reduction (armour) perk and have something like 60% reduction now. The health restore ability is pretty useful too.

Do the 'special' sets e.g. treasure and purchased, scale to your level? If so I guess it is like Origins where you don't want to pick a lot of it up until max level is reached?

Yeah prefer poison myself, intoxicated enemies do reduced damage, take more damage and weakens armour. Side benefit, unlike the fire you can't poison yourself! With that said I do find fire nicer with trash mobs, can usually fear a number of them while poison is nice for dealing with single target heavy hitters at time when you get them intoxicated.

With that said, respec is cheap so fun to mess around with.

Yeah that's the crux of it. The items you pick up will be scaled to your level.
