Assassin's Creed Odyssey

So far have been upgrading everything better than common to current level, if I run out of money I might change that. Presumably weapons are more important than armor.

Just chiming in, it's taken me a hair over 4 hours and 30 minutes to get past the 'intro', you know, when it states 'Ubisoft presents' bit.

I did everything on the starting island. All side quests, caves, treasures etc. Not bad!
You are a fast player ! :p About 6 hours into it and don't think I am close to the "Ubisoft Present" part yet. Then again, I always take my time playing any games so most likely me that is a very slow player ! :o

What on earth are you doing. I thought I was slow :p

It might take you a lifetime to complete this...

Exploring, climbing and diving. Sneaking around killing the bad guys. Probably don't help I explored before picking up main quest and now have to go back to areas I already walked through but now with quests to do. :o Almost ran into Cyclops place and not yet come that far in the quest line yet, which I am guessing I be later on. :p

Can anyone tell me if the Gold Edition is worth the extra £15 over the deluxe pack?

It includes all the future DLC, which would come to more than £15, so yeah, if you think you'll want the future DLC then I would say the gold is worth the extra 15.
And the Season Pass alone, if wanting to buy it later is costing 40 Euros at the moment, so as Tombstone said, if you thinking getting the DLC's at a later date, be much cheaper for you now.

Also, the Season Pass not only giving you the DLC's, but also 2 Remastered Games; Assassin's Creed III and Liberation. Although if you already played those then wont really benefit you that much. :p

Anyone know where I can obtain those crafting tablets - required for er ship upgrades? I've got a ton of crafting materials but just a single tablet. I've only seen them sold individually in the odd blacksmiths shop but I never knew how rare they were until now!

Sounds like me. I go off on tangents exploring and end up doing something totally different. At level 30 now and only done first main mission. Infact most my perks are locked as I have not progressed far enough :o

Usually get them at temple locations with bandits. Have a red symbol on map, different to the fort icon though. Normally get 4 tablets a site.

Thanks, have purchased the Gold version, although this is the most I've ever spent on a game  :)

Are microtransactions really that prevalent? There was no mention of them until like a week ago, and then everyone is talking about them and that the game is a grind because of them.

It is the usual minority who like to moan. There is zero reason to use any microtransactions unless you want to cheat your way through the game. They are entirely optional. I have outlevelled all of my current content.

I thought that a microtransaction was e.g having to sell your junk inventory piece by piece like in Witcher 3...what is it then?

Any tips on climbing the Merc ladder? No known characters anywhere near me to fight.

Cause chaos, steal things, kill people etc, you'll soon get the meter up.

They exist but the reasons to actually use them are dependant on the time you have to actually play the game. Odysysyey is built around a very lengthy progression system purposely in order to tempt folks to use it.

Most YouTube clowns probably didn't have much time to review the game so felt forced to use them, and their viewers probably saw that the mtx's were a major requirement as a result.

I played and completed Origins not too long ago and didn't feel compelled to use them at all - they just weren't required and I had top end gear by the end. In regards to Odysysyey the upgrading systems do seem quite grindy in terms of the daft amount of resources/materials required (you can buy these via mtx's though!) and the new currency that is Orichalcum is stored server side now, as opposed to locally where in Origins people used to use trainers to cheat them in and get top end gear via Heka chests (why did I find this out after I finished the game?!).

I am Lv26 now and haven't been tempted at all, but then again I do have time set aside for the game.
