ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 144hz 2560x1440 IPS G-Sync.

I see nothing wrong with the monitor and if there is then I can live with it.
What a peculiar thing to say. If it developed a bad fault as many have experienced (although perhaps you are lucky), you would still keep it? Asus love customers like you. If you've got a perfect monitor, then congratulations, but it's VERY strange that you would say you'd keep a faulty one regardless.

My 42" TV has this same problem in dark/black scenes, because the actual panel is bent in all 4 corners. I assume the same problem applies here? Haven't some people opened their screens up and straightened the panel to prove this is the case? Or maybe all the people with problems post about their problems on this thread and the other 1-99% don't and are too busy gaming...

To thos with the monitor, can you do a test for me?

If I put my index lightly on the bottom left corner, the panel doesn't feel attached, and I can see the glow there disappear when I do so.

Its like the coating or whatever plastic thing is between the panel and coating isnt flat, I noticed a similar thing at the bottom right, but had to use a hint of force there. Pushing it got rid of glow completely, but as you let it go it comes back.

Heh no, the edges have a glow and also happen to not sit flush with the plastic bezel. I spent a few days with it and decided to keep it. I hardly notice it anymore. I just wondered if that's what was happening with all these monitors.

edit: When I mean bent, I mean a gap of 1-2mm, but maybe thats enough to cause a problem. I also emailed Panasonic about the problem at the time:

Thank you for your e-mail.

In response, please note that this a drawback of the technology and it won't be covered by the warranty. I would advise taking it back to the retailer for an exchange.

However, if you want to keep the unit, Panasonic UK does not recommend that customers attempt their own repairs. Instead, we suggest that the product is submitted to an authorised service agent for attention. Those in your local area can be found through our website: http://www.panasonic.com/uk/support.html

I trust that the above information will be of assistance to you. However, of course, if you should have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,
Alexis

"drawback of the technology" - not my words, Panasonic's. :) LCDs panels need to be FLAT in bold and all capitals.

Can you slide a thin piece of card between the panel and frame to cure it?

I cant get my Xperia Z3 Compact to show what I actually see.

On photos the glow on the right looks like its reddish but to my eyes its silvery/grey.
Left side is blueish but not noticable during darker content, to my eyes.

Right corner is a bit annoying though as black turns silver and detail is lost.
Theres no BLB, if I move head to the right (and vice versa) where my right eye is almost at bezel, the glow there is completely gone and theres no other light coming out.

Also the coating makes dark content more annoying, as you can see yourself in the monitor.

Those pictures just look like normal IPS glow, nothing to be done about it. Silvery/orangy glow on the right and blue glow on the left is pretty standard. Unless you sit really far back from your monitor and dead on to it looking at the centre of the screen it's gonna happen.

Is it worth upgrading from my TN PG278Q ROG Swift to this IPS one ?..

Depends if you get a good one with little BLB

Depends if viewing angles are important to you...

Depends if you can live with IPS glow

Monitor tech currently is stuck in the dark ages...it's not moved on really very much...

And it also depends if you can get hold of one! :p I actually phoned Asus up about availablity, and the guy on the end of the phone told me they are having difficulty getting hold of a "part" for it, didnt say what. He did mention however that it had to do with monitor returns, so im **guessing** that part was actually panels that arent bleeding all over the place! :D

Problem is if I press on the panel the glow disappears, especially at the bottom left. I can feel the panel is a bit loose there.

I am having a hard time trying to decide whether to get this monitor (from a different seller) or hold off till something better comes around. Regardless of the poor quality control, is this monitor a significant and worthwhile upgrade from a standard 1080p 60hz screen?

That sounds like horrible QC

Thin bezel design comes with its flaws. You can see a video on youtube where a guy showcases this, the entire like inner bezel is kinda loose compared to teh outer bezel housing.

I had an LG27 IPS once with "ultra thin 1mm bezels" (false advert) had similar thing.

Yes.........if you get a good one........

IPS glow is NOT orange... it never has been in my experience. I've always owned IPS and I've seen IPS glow before, but it's ALWAYS silvery/blue/grey, never orange. So either this is a unique feature of these AUO AHVA-IPS panels, or it's something else such as BLB.
