Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I'm really liking the idea behind the film but struggling to see how this lends itself to a justice league lead in, unless this is a one shot.

I would imagine that they start kickng the crap out of each other, then something more powerful comes along and they have to join forces to defeat it. Then they realise they were best bros all along and voila JL is formed.#

I think people are thinking to Nolan about this film, Im sure it will be gritty but the Batman we will see is likely to be more truer to the comics/cartoons with added powers/tech to combat superman (the trailer appears to hint at this with the suit)

Doesn't make much sense that batman can toss superman across the room unassisted. They do stuff like that all the time in these cartoons, virtually zero continuity.

It is DC so I hope they don't follow their TV show trends from the Flash where a guy who can run so fast he can travel through time is unable to take down 2 dude with guns when it suits. I hope they don't do similar cringe inducing things to make Batman last that little bit longer.

Yeah, DC are so stupid. Marvel would never have a billionaire in an armoured suit take on someone with god-like powers who had just failed to kill a man holding a magic shield.

He doesnt have demons and is such a do-gooder, never really read much of Superman always preferring Batman. Are there any stories anyone can recommend that show a dark side to Supes?

I don't read enough Superman in regular continuity, but there's a few alternate universe/timelines that might cover it.

Red Son
In this vivid tale of Cold War paranoia, the ship carrying the infant who would grow up to become Superman lands in the midst of 1950s Soviet Union, where he is raised on a collective. As he becomes a symbol to the Soviet people, the world changes drastically from what we know - bringing Superman into conflict with Batman, Lex Luthor, and others.

Speeding Bullets
What would have happened if the infant Superman had been found by the Waynes of Gotham City instead of the Kents of Kansas? That's the question this graphic novel examines, as the child from another planet witnesses the death of his parents at the hands of a Gotham mugger and grows up to become a bat-caped avenger of the night

I've linked to Amazon because I'm lazy, but this is not a £20 odd book. It's a prestige comic, so it's 48 pages - probably a fiver's worth. Saying that, it's not cheap on Ebay either

Kingdom Come
In the near future, Superman has retired, plagued by an inability to accept a world where his generation's super-powered descendants run roughshod over the values he fought for. When tragic events force his return, he gathers his former team-mates and colleagues to once again lead the fight for justice and order. However, their return sparks a chain of events that could lead the world to Armageddon.

Superman/Batman - Absolute Power
In this reality-bending tale, Superman and Batman rule Earth with an iron fist. Before long, the World's Finest Duo is sent careening through a series of bizarre alternate earths, facing an assortment of classic DC characters including Kamandi, Sgt. Rock, Haunted Tank, and many more!

Earth One
Updated (darker) version of Superman's origin

Injustice
Things in the DC Universe have changed after Superman is tricked into destroying the one thing he loves the most. Now unwilling to let crime go unpunished, the heroes of our world must choose if they are with Superman, or against him. But not every country will submit to his new world order and neither will Superman's greatest threat - Batman!

For Tomorrow
A cataclysmic event has struck the Earth. Millions of people have vanished without a trace. No one is left unaffected; not even Superman! But after a year, Superman is left with many questions. For a hero who tries to have all the answers, it's torture. And, just as the action heats up and the stakes are raised, one huge question emerges: Just how far is Superman willing to go "For Tomorrow?"

Finally - not darker necessarily, but smarter...

All Star Superman
Supes is tricked into absorbing to much solar radiation, which supercharges him but drastically shortens his life. This book follows his final adventures

what you are forgetting is that plot holes and ******** like the Thor/Iron Man 'fight' from Marvel are glossed over by the marvel community where as every little detail in DC films etc is micro examined and dragged over the coals.

But batman has studied ju jitsi and judo so he was able to use supes strength against him during the throw:D

Nah I get your point I too suggested the same thing ages ago about the flash being stopped by a guy with an oil can or marbles, best not to get too deep into it otherwise you miss out on the fun aspect.

I actually know some guys that watch zero superhero/hero films and don't get the whole batman or wolverine thing they would rather watch denzel washingtons equalizer so I let them be while I pretend to be the flash :D

wow that is quite a difference very surprised actually I think with supes bright red and blue colors it did look a bit too bright but they were able to tone him down a bit with video editing it looks.

Id love it if they remastered man of steel with improved contrast and color I don't think it would effect the film.

I like the classic dark Batman look, but I think the full neck cowl is a mistake. It looks great in the comics where it gets redrawn as needed, but in live action, it looks rubbish if the actor can't turn his neck. Bale's Batman moved so naturally with the separate helmet/cowl section compared to previous versions.

I don't know why they just don't make it out of fabric and make it look right but still allow the actor to turn his head. Classic Batman was never armoured, he's about speed, agility, cunning, misdirection, inducing fear. He wears a cape so that he can move inside it and you're never sure where his body is to attack him.

When you consider the amazing work that can be done to make costumes look right, even make them look 3D textured when they're not, it seems silly to have Batman's head stuck in an immovable cowl so he has to move his body and shoulders because he can't turn his neck. It's never looked right in motion on any of the Batman films except Bale's version with the separate helmet.

^ Well of course. It's a part of the superman mythos.

And my god, words cannot describe just how excited I am. DC knocked it out of the park with this trailer.
