BMW and M Power Owners

It is, look at my e46 thread you'll see how mine turned out

Just had a look over that and it looks quite decent (the carbon trim), don't suppose you have any more detailed pictures?

Also noticed you sorted the leather with a scuffmaster kit, did you just use the 65ml kit and was it enough? And can you remember which colour black you specified when buying the kit? Have been meaning to do it for a long time!

Not sure I took any more before pictures but can get you some of what they look like now if it helps? They were showing the typical white scuff marks and looking worn down. The passenger side is now perfect, drivers side you can see its very slightly worn but that will only be resolved by a new bit of trim.

I used the small kit and it was plenty ( still have more than half left) but I only used it as a light wash to cover up bolsters, corners and a small scratch on the passenger seat - all in probably done 4 sections of seat so if you need to do the lot you'll want a bigger bottle. I use a sponge to apply it if you spray you'll need more again.

Just tell the guy its e46 black you'll get the right colour, it comes with toner anyway so you can adjust if you need to. Don't think I did on the e46 but had to play around to get my e36 silver colour properly matched

If you've got the photos to hand then that would be awesome if you don't mind :)

Thanks will get some dye ordered, did you find it removed shine at the same time?

It will to an extent but don't expect miracles as it'll wear through relatively quickly unless you're totally recoating. By far the best way to use it is to use tiny amounts of actual dye so you don't end up with layers or mis matching everywhere. Its very good anywhere that there is scratching or other marks though.

Will try and sort you a couple of pics tomorrow if I remember

Pretty much set on an E46 330ci now after some research.

What I am not set on though is do I want another automatic (and no paddles) vs a manual car. I think I need to drive both. I don't do a lot of traffic anymore which is the main reason to go with an automatic.

This is also tempting but I really don't think I can run it without sacrificing other lifestyle choices. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...ize-cars/5lplus/transmission/manual?logcode=p

You don't do traffic so want an auto? That's the only reason to get one in an e46 IMO. Surely if you're buying one now its to have a bit of fun in it? Whilst the box is decent enough its just not the same as a manual and saps a bit of power to boot.

I would sooner have an auto e39 than e46. Its far more fitting for the type of car, the e39 is a more quality bit of kit and is barely any slower or less economical but you sacrifice a little bit of handling and general pointability.

I think he means he doesn't 'do' a lot of traffic anymore where as lots of traffic driving is usually the reason you want an auto :)

went to look at some Merc C250s today as still can't find any 6 cylinder petrol M-sport manual BMWs at any main dealer within 150 miles ! lol - even at budget up to 18

getting annoying now

Not sure it can be classed as FULL M power here but....

Just placed on order through G2L on a Alpine White M135i.

Options:
Auto Box
Proffessional Media
Harman Kardon Hi-Fi

Got it on a cracking deal that would have been hard to turn down and hopefully it will cheaper running than my current Focus RS (aka. Money Pit)

8-10 weeks on delivery which should see the car on to a 14 plate :D

Apparently there is quite a back order on 35i engines.

Any other M135i owners here? Share your thoughts on the car?

Do you mind me asking what the pricing is like with those options? I'm considering my options should my 335i get written off and the more I look at them, the more the M135i tickles my taste buds.

So, nearly 3 months in to my BMW experience and this is what I've had to put up with so far:
Blowers have gone, twice. I've just put in my second FSU. I just hoping the original replacement was faulty and it doesn't turn out to be a blower motor - dash out job.
Multidisc has stopped working, it will no longer recognise any discs.
Car misses under load, not always but with it being on gas the trims are getting thrown out and it just doesn't run right. It's likely the gas needs recalibrating but as it's a BRC Sequent 56 kit which requires a hardware key so no luck doing it myself/my old man doing it. Father also thinks a valve is on it's way out...
It also suffers from the snatchy 2nd down to 1st issue that's made when the above throws the engine management light on.
Finally, someone ran in to the back of my at the start of December - fortunately only a 3-4 mph knock but it's ended up being a couple £K. Not at fault however parking sensors are out so I have to park the beast all by myself!

Still, all of that is half the fun isn't it?

Kind of expected when you buy what was a £90k(?) top of the range car new for £5k(?) now?

I guessed both prices so am probably wrong on that front. But the general point is people buy these cars cheap when they are old and get shocked at the price of fixing it in relation to it's new price.

This is really what puts me off an e39 M5, I don't want to buy one for £11k then have to spend £5k fixing it.

If the car is just for fun then definitely get the manual.

This is has been the advice everyone gives me. Kind of a jekyll and hide car in manual form, can be a boring mile cruncher or can have fun. Whereas the automatic is just boring all the time? You don't even get paddles for any control over the gearbox unless you fit a B3S wheel.

anyone using a 1 series 5 door with a family ? tempted with a 123d M Sport 5 door - but have 2 kids - both under 10. Both myself and the Mrs are short though 5'4 - so I'm thinking only really boot space might be an issue on holidays

I've just about given up looking for M Sport 3 series (6 cylinder ones at a main dealer), loads of 320ds around - but from reading forums seems the less complex 123d Turbos are more reliable ?

found one 330d M Sport for sale at a dealer - but bit concerned about running costs - but zippo petrol 6 cylinders :( manual ones.

only got until mid Jan - when my MOT on my current car (due to be scrapped) is due

seem to be able to get an approved used 123d on a 2008 plate on low miles for 10.5k vs an approved used 330d on same plate and miles for 15k - big difference in price - and have a feeling the 123d will be more fun to drive

Pricing isnt too bad...just dont go crazy on the options. The base price on the lease was very good value. Now obviously the more options you add the car doesnt then seem such good value.

Mine came out around £320pm with the options I whent for (The most worthwhile ones)

Found a couple that must have been taken not long after they were done plus one from this evening

Marks are just because it needs a clean nothing more.

Full interior - you get a better idea of how the sprayed trim matches here....and makes me realise just how bad the non oem stereo looks now, think its coming out

Thanks buddy, sounds good. I'll drop G2L a message to see what the other options like heated seats would cost.

I wouldn't be looking at an e87 (2004-2011) 1 Series - the rear space is very limited.
