BMW and M Power Owners

The M Sport premium is quite bizarre. It's annoying because M Sport cars do look good but in the case of the E92 you are often paying thousands of pounds for what is quite literally a steering wheel thats £250 on Ebay and different front and rear bumpers.

It's the same with F10's - an equivilent M Sport is often £4-5k more than an SE with Dynamic Pack (Which adds sport seats, black headlining, etc etc). £4-5k more for..two plastic bumpers and some alloys.

The good thing with the E92 is that you can also add the E92 Aero front bumper for £350-400 painted and delivered which makes the front end look better. The rear bumper looks better than the other SE models anyway, as the bumper surrounds the exhausts a bit. The M sport steering wheel with paddles i bought from eBay for £180 and it took me under 30 mins to fit it. The M Sport side skirts i bought for £110 on eBay and were nearly brand new and took an hour a side to fit.

Obviously, i'm prepared to go through the hassle of this stuff which 99% of people wouldn't be, but the end product is that i've had more people randomly make comments to me about the car than i've ever had before.

I used to read online about people saying how people shout "OMG NICE CAR M8!11!" as they drove passed and stuff, and i figured they were just making it up for internet points, but to my utter surprise, it's happened a few times to me now! And in the petrol station people have come up to me. And in Tesco's car park as i'm parking. And in town. And at work.

It's a nice car and all, and i love it, but i don't know if people mistakenly think it's some special edition M3 or something like that and that's why it's getting attention :p

I'd still quite like a 335i Saloon, and whilst previously I'd only have looked at M Sports have to say getting older an SE isn't out of the question now!

Did see a perfect LCI 335i M Sport saloon at a local dealer a few months ago, wasn't so happy with the 21k price tag though, ouch.

A blue E90 LCI 335i M Sport, in blue, with heated cream leather, CIC iDrive and Bi-Xenons is my ideal car.

But like you say, at £21000 they can go jump. Not to mention to find a car with my ideal spec would be impossible. The only other thing to remember is that it was only the E92 coupe/E93 convertible which got the M-Sport suspension and seats in both "SE" and "M-Sport" trims. The E90 saloon SE still has SE suspension and seats and it is only the E90 M-Sports that come with the upgraded bits.

I'd rather have SE suspension and like Fox said; if the SE has Dynamic Pack then it'll have the same interior and an M-Sport model. The only difference being the F&R bumpers which can't be that difficult to swap.

And the black headlining that would be a bit of a pain to swap I would think.

If your going for a coupe, then the SE is definitely a good shout, did the coupes not have xenons as standard too? If your going for a saloon, the M-Sport is really the way to go.

My 335d was an E91 (estate) LCI M-Sport with visibility and storage packs, cic professional nav, and some other little bits btw. So my coupe + saloon knowledge only comes from forum reading, but pretty sure the only things missing on the coupe were the headlining, bumpers and wheels (possibly steering wheel too). Whereas the Saloon and Tourings were also missing suspension, seats, steering wheel and xenons

JB4 and BMS DCI ready for the weekend

Nothing like referencing a post made almost 18 months ago :)

I'm looking to get a bit more out of my F21 125i, and the JB4 is appealing because:

1) It doesn't cost anywhere near as much as the M Performance Power Kit (~£350 vs ~£1125) The MPPK is literally an ECU swap, with no intercooler upgrade as I originally thought.
2) It provides more BHP and torque than the MPPK, and is easily removable.
3) If I install an MPPK, I may battle to sell the car because the prospective buyer might be put off by the increased insurance premiums.

The only thing that the MPPK has over the JB4 is the warranty support.

Was your JB4 reliable? Did you have any problems with the car after you installed it? Did BMW ever pick up that you had it installed?

Thanks :)

EDIT: I just found this which makes some pretty big claims, but I can't find many reports of people using one of these.

http://www.koenig-felgen.de/ have very competitive prices, and they're local :p

Get the F1 Assy 2s. Excellent tyres. Just because you've only got 150bhp doesn't mean you won't have to perform an emergency stop from 140MPH..

Thanks managed to get a pair of 255/35/18 Assy 2's for £250 fitted by a local garage. Will get the fronts swapped over if I get some spare money.

Be interested to see how you get on with the JB4 :)

Looking at either that or an Evolve remap at some point in the future, either would need to be removable for obvious reasons.

I vaguely know the preferences/benefit of a custom map over a piggyback as such but haven't read up widely on the topic yet.

This is stunning - At link

The colour is sensational, I've never saw a E46 offered in that colour besides the Clubsports.

Few things wrong with it:

1) Obviously its not a 330 :(
2) The Interior (Grey should never have touched these cars) :(
3) He could have consealed that Sub a bit better.

That sub :D :D, bet he got that idea from Nissan (GT-R). At least could have modded a grille in there so it looked like it should be there instead of simply screwed in place randomly.

I'd be perfectly happy with a 325, you tend to see them in better condition too due to being the less popular model.

High price though? You're right about the colour, amazing on the outside but grey is such a dire colour for the inside, where you spend all your time...

Unrelated........ I know you've done this, so would you recommend using a magic eraser for dulling a shiny steering wheel? Or is it more likely to start me down a road to needing a retrim...

Depends on the state of your old one, if the colour isn’t faded and it’s just simply shiny then yeah it’s an easy win, it won’t take it back to looking brand new but it will be good enough to feel and look it for some time. If patches of colour are faded and it’s visibly worn then re-trim.

This is mine from the other day.

Re-trimmed wheel ~3 years later:
