Don't Pay UK

The only 'fault' of the UK govement in this regard is going along with the Green agenda for renewables, which has put up domestic energy bills a lot

Not that much really. They account for ~8% on a dual fuel bill, which at the higher April cap of around £1,900 / year works out at £150 or 12.50 a month. Before that it was about £8 a month.

and not giving the go ahead for more domestic fracking.

People have mentioned though that since the gas would be extracted by a private company,it would just be sold on the open market anyway and wouldn't bring the cost of gas (and thus electricity generated by gas) down for us anyway.

Which bit of q1 was a record exactly ? And this one is the highest in 14yrs. Not a record

Shell Q1 profit rises to $9.13bn due to higher oil and gas prices

The company registered a surge in profit despite incurring a $3.9bn write-down from the Russian exit.

Ah different company now who aren’t U.K. based. So what’s the relevance?

It easy though really. We have governments that are supposed to be running things around the world. If the US, G7 and the others nations sat around the table and said right market price is now set at xyz until things stabilise . Bush bosh bash problem solved.

How? Are you just going to ask Russia nicely to stop invading Ukraine? Are we just going to tell the Saudis and UAE and Nigeria that westerners in rich countries are getting angry at their bills for fuel and electricity etc.. so can they take less money?

Why should they get less money - why, for example, do you deserve more money in your pocket than some people in Nigeria? Just because you don't like the price of something going up a bit and think that they should get less than you?

Do we know where the profits are being made?

In BPs case it's largely from their trading arm and from profits made refining oil.

i wasn’t aware of the specific company you were referring too. So many are making huge profits it’s hard to keep track. Shell being the one getting the most coverage.
What’s shell got to do with the U.K. then.

Would be good if you kept track of the companies you are using to make your points.

That seems dubious, if you've got a greater supply of oil and gas from say shale oil, fracking etc.. then the reduced or unreliable supplies from elsewhere are a bit less of an issue.

Is that a serious comment? Not sure. Some people do think like this.
If TikTok has taught me anything, it's that setting yourself up as an Amazon 'FBA' seller as a 'side hustle' to resell Chinese junk for £thousands per month is easier than breathing, so there is no excuse for being poor in 2022.

They operate in the Uk. They are company being used to show record profits. But pedantic is the name of the game. Regardless billions and billions in profit are being made and will continue to be made. A 20bn loss is a drop in the ocean for these particular companies. Aren’t they.

No. Cause that means they lost 20b. What are you on? That’s not sustainable. Most oil companies were running at a loss during covid.

Shell operate all around the world and probably don’t make a huge amount in the Uk and they are not U.K. based. So as said, should everyone in the world have help with energy bills cause a company makes money on a commodity that is set by the market ?

Typical rant of someone who doesn’t really understand how the oil gas and energy market works. What should companies do. Sell it lower than market rate? Stop supplying ?

I just checked out some videos on Tiktok off the back of your comment. I wonder how much time per day something like that would take. Many of us have precious little time as it is.
