*** Elden Ring ***

I'm sitting at 25% cpu (5800x) and only like 6-7% gpu (3090). It doesn't even clock over 1100mhz, it's just not getting used at all running the game.
Max settings apart from depth of field running 3840x1600

Love it so far, just reached 10 hours played and I've still done so little and seen so little. The world design is gorgeous, I'm constantly seeing things on the horizon and thinking whats that over there and heading off to investigate. Have found loads of little caves and mini "dungeons" and the exploration is done so well that every time I find a place like that I feel like I'm the only person who knows about it. Made it to level 5 now, got to sleep, very much looking forward to continuing tomorrow :)

Still havent had any performance issues and I'm even starting to get to grips with the camera trying to autocentre when I aimlook around me while moving (though I would still prefer them to change that). I do find the inventory system somewhat clunky, I seem to have to jump through a lot of hoops just to put an item in one of my pouch slots and I'd still like a way to disable the player messages but got to say that irrespective of that, thoroughly enjoying it. Hopefully they can fix the issues some people are having quickly.

ah maybe theres a corallation between control method and stutters? im using a ps4 pad on mine and i guess your using mouse keyboard?

edit: luckily the stutters have stayed outside of my boss fights so far :)

Yeah I'm on mouse and keyboard

maybe its something daft like the input method, back in 1999 when i got a tnt2 ultra and expendable with it, the game stuttered like a mad cats ass in heat, turned out if i unplugged the saitek flight stick that was always connected the game ran smooth as butter lol

i wouldnt disable player messages some are very helpful, apart from the finger but ones and jump of cliff ones which i have seen hundreds of times and the invisible wall ones, some have actually shown me stuff i would have missed though :)

Welp, I ended up spending a couple of hours farming godrick to help people progress and get a bunch of arch runes.

Found a bunch of grace sights in the next area but won't go into detail for spoilers. The game just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Love it!

As for technical issues, I noticed a very small frame drop here and there. But it's buttery smooth at 4k on the oled TV at 60fps.

i9900k @5ghz
Asus strix 3090 OC (with extra OC)
32gb ram
Installed on a nvme

The above cpu and gpu are under water so temps are low and the clocks don't fluctuate at all. My wife's pc on the other hand. 2070 super and its basically unplayable..... Hopefully they patch it soon.

Oh dont get me wrong, I wouldnt want them disabled for everyone, I'd just like it as a toggleable option so that people who want to turn them off (like me) can do so and anyone who wants to keep them turned on can do so too.

Which is weird, I'm only on a 1080 and I'm getting a pretty solidly consistent 60fps, I'd have thought a 2070 super would do better than mine. Though its not the first time that my 1080 seems to have performed above and beyond

I got really bad freezes trying to use xbox pad with bluetooth, on USB it's all fine so maybe input has an affect

wow im pretty sure a 2070 super should be beating my sapphire pulse 5700 by a good bit :(

im playing at 1080p on a samsung 27 inch monitor s27f350 to be exact free sync enabled and a 3600 ryzen @ stock and 16 gig ddr4 team group @ 3200mhz running the game of a samsung evo 860 drive, the radeon software says im averaging 55 fps and im on pretty high settings for the game.

im using my ps4 pad wired, that way i can still use it blue tooth on my ps4 with no faffing about :p

hehe you got me wrong, i just meant if i was you i wouldnt disable them for your self :)

each to their own :)

Ahhh I see ! Yeah no, for me they break my immersion being all over the place and tbh I sort of dont want the hints/clues because I want to find out the stuff (good and bad) myself so they end up just being clutter on the landscape for me:)

ah fair does i can see the appeal :)

I had a good session last night, mostly around the starting area where you first emerge and for the most part the game seems smooth running at 58-60FPS, with GPU at around 80%. Where I do get what feels like stutter is if I’m strafing and try to adjust the camera, it’s almost like the camera is hitting a barrier and bouncing off of it.

Yeah thats the thing I mentioned earlier in the thread, its like the camera tries to autocentre behind you if you try aimlooking other than the direction you are going. I've seen some MMOs have the same issue. Should be an easy fix I would have thought.

Posted in the other elden ring thread too....

Which would you guys get it for, PS5 or Series X?
I can't decide which to get it for. I've read reviews that it runs pretty good on series X at a consistent 50fps but on ps5 it's 60fps albeit inconsistent.

Enjoying it so far, stutters are there for sure. I seem to get big hitches rather than micro-ones.
Love the fact that you can just go where you want (for the most part), think Iv got 4 bosses in the queue at the moment to return to.

I can not stand the horse combat, it is appalling and hate the way the game forces you into it at certain points. They also made the enemy iframes when standing up, or invading in so long that it feels like a bug more than an active design decision.

There also seems to be a targeting issue where it just won't flip to the enemy closest to you even if you try. You have to disengage and retarget

Installing now. Not been this excited for a game for a very long time.

Now I have twenty minutes or so to decide on a starting class. Thinking of playing through like I did the first DS game with a str/int spellsword hybrid, but then I don't think that was actually optimal. Magic looks pretty cool this time around, but I've never leaned overly on it in a DS game and it probably mixes better with dex than str...

Hardly playable for me on 2070S either, I suppose it's the shader compiler + EAC (Kaldaien mentioned it was part of the problem).

My CPU isn't the fastest ([email protected]) but it sits at 50% usage with the card using 65-70% of juice. Something's terribly wrong here.
