*** Elden Ring ***

Which is weird, I'm only on a 1080 and I'm getting a pretty solidly consistent 60fps, I'd have thought a 2070 super would do better than mine. Though its not the first time that my 1080 seems to have performed above and beyond

She's running at 3440x1440, no matter what settings, the stutters and pausing is making it unplayable for her. Mind you, her drivers are older than some of the items in the British museum and she NEVER turns her machine off and has a bajillion things open. So take the performance remarks with that in mind. And yes, I've asked, no, she won't let me sort her pc out lol

For those put of by the difficulty I was put off Sekiro at first because it was ridiculously hard at first.

You have to unlearn a lot of things. These games are not arcadey like Valhalla. You will be punished for just button mashing.

I came up with a good quote to a friend "If you button mash, the game will button mash you".

In the end I spent 165 hours on Sekiro and it was one of the best games I ever played.

It's damn hard but the sense of achievement when you do finally beat that hard boss is well worth it. Not many games actually give you this sense of achievement that you get from a FromSoftware game.

Graphics worse than Demon's Souls?

Much worse than the recent remake unfortunately. Playing it on PS5 and it looks like a mid gen PS4 title. Very obvious they’re using an older game engine. Worse still the frame rate is a bit choppy even in performance mode.

Artistically it looks nice but technically it’s well below average IMO. From what I’ve read it’s little better on PC.

I must admit I did think it would look nicer too. It's no better than DS3 that I can tell. Although the Souls games were never really about the graphics, I was expecting better lighting and textures. Performance for me on a 1080Ti at 3440x1440 is just able passable. I do get the hitches, but not too often, and also some frame rate drops. It's not unplayable but given how it looks I am a bit surprised.

I'm really thoroughly enjoying the game, though. Open world Dark Souls is hard to beat :) I have no idea where to go, everywhere feels full of menace and danger. I killed a boss in a cave that wasn't very difficult, but I imagine it was just a mini-boss really. And I've skirted around or run away from a lot of enemies that look too threatening. Been knocked off my horse several times but thankfully not died yet except for the place near the start where I presume it's expected. Feel like I could play this all night.

One thing I am glad for is that Hollowing isn't present. That used to grind my gears and put me off Souls games. Will have to do a bit of grinding to level up, I got annihilated by a Tree Sentinel by the church... i thought I safe on the path.

Some sections look really good in a slightly game engine dated way. Just keep on exploring

Think I'm level 32 and not even killed Margit yet, just running all over the place, sneaking in to high level areas

Only level 20 here, but same. I try a ride-by swipe and see how much the enemy HP bar depletes by. It's often been like 5% - and then I've just booked it to another area. :)

Found a staff, but need more Int. My build is going to be all over the place.

Game looks like ass, and what's with the Camera it feels off.....

100/100
10/10

hahaha YEH RIGHT! Like I said bs

I still proclaim that Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin was the best. I don't know if I have the patience to play through Elden Ring. At some point in life, the feeling you're starting to play more Japanese video game torture starts to wear.
