*** Elden Ring ***

To be fair, I just need to get a proper focus for a night or so but it just comes across so utterly unforgiving right from the start that I can't find the patience for it.

The game is brutal hard.

I gave up on it within the first 2hrs. Far too hard.

But I only tried it again because I paid £35 for it so I just wanted to get maybe 10hrs of game play out of it so I could tell my self I got my moneys worth.

In the end I played it about 160 hrs in total.

The boss fights are extremely difficult in this game. But that's the point. You get such a sense of elation and achievement when you do finally kill that boss.

In Elden Ring the bosses are hard. But the difference is in Elden Ring you can just go and farm levels to come back stronger which is what I did.

But in Sekiro there is no levels. You just unlock prophetics to use, so basically you are forced to learn the boss.

The fights are truly some of the most epic you will ever play.

Heres a selection:

(The above has three phases! You get through rounds one and two by the skin of your teeth then the guy comes back and starts firing lighting at you! Its ridiculous!)

The above videos look easy because the player is well practised and skilled and knows exactly what to do.

These fights will take you a long time to master.

Edit I said above that you dont level up in Sekiro. Having played it a few years ago I think I misremembered. There are XP levels in Sekiro its just not as obvious as in Elden Ring.

Trying out spirit ashes on my current playthough, what a game changer!
Didn't use them on my 1st playthough because I wanted to do things solo, but these lone wolves are making some of these early fights a breeze.

The skeletal soldiers are really useful for kiting enemies in harder fights, plus they keep coming back to life unless their bones are destroyed.

Following a guide, which has got me Lhutel the Headless and Bloodhound step at a pretty low level.
I definitely made the game unnecessarily hard for me on the 1st playthough.

Man I've been waiting for a decent price on sekiro for ages, should have grabbed it at £25 in the last steam sale

Picked this up in the sales, looking forward to getting my arse handed to me on a plate :p
Is it a case "figure it out as you play and git gud newb!", or would anyone recommend going through new player guides to get started? I get limited time to play so don't want to waste time overlooking important but not obvious game-play mechanics

Do some research on effective builds.

£14.99 is when I will bite :)

Been out way to long to pay more than that for something that might annoy me the way Returnal did

Once I am done playing the games I have on my list might try Elden Ring if i can grab it for sub £20. My worry is I will find it boring like Darksouls. I like souls like games when done right. Darksouls games are just boring though.
