The more i think of Mclaren getting it,the more depressing it gets.Here is a man who has class players,good enough to tonk Chelsea and ManU this season and get to a european final.Yet only good enough for 14th in the league ?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I really wanted Hiddink or Scolari and both are out of the running. English managers are crap, full stop. I'd only take Pearce for the entertainment value.

If the reason he doesn't want it is really down to the media's intrusion then he wasn't the right man for the job as that is part & parcel of being England manager (rightly or wrongly) and only someone with total committment would put up with it.
Curbishley, Allardyce & McClaren all know what they would be in for in that respect & that hasn't put either of them off. At least they want the job for the kudos & pride, not the money alone it seems

I doubt its anything to do with the media, no top class manager is that thin-skinned.

More like the FA not wanting to pay the salary he wanted, or some other detail.
