Nice one rich, even with the footie and tesco to contend with :D

Also, what the hell is a "Tiffy-Kat", and how do I win one?

Sir Tiffy Kat?

LOL

MB

indeed the man speaketh the truth!!!

Folding@Home is very generaous with certificates - infact you will have a couple already as soon as your first WU has been credited - find yourself in the Team Stats once you're on there and then click your name to take you to your personal stats page - there you will see a tiffy for your points score and a tiffy for your number of WUs so far

in the news i recognise the following points score tiffy's - though if you have a tiffy you want to show off there's no need to wait for the news post

Tiffys:
1k, 2.5k, 5k, 7.5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, 25k...
30k, 40k, 50k, 60k, 70k, 80k, 90k...
100k, 120k, 140k, 160k, 180k...
200k, 225k, 250k, 275k...etc...975k...
1mil, 1.05mil, 1.1mil, 1.15mil...and so it goes on

stanford will only recognise the two most significant figures so for example you can't actually get an official tiffy for 275k as it'll just come out as 270,000 - the values I use in the news have just been chosen to suit what people wanted, 375k sounds so much nicer than 370k or 380k.

Hope that's cleared up your question - as for when you will win one, it'll be 1,000 points as far as the news is concerned but feel free to post one as soon as you like :)

I had a quick chat with rich99million about it before I went ahead. I'm sure if anyone disapproves you can remove it, there'll be no hard feelings
yeah sorry my bad - I didn't think anyone would mind too much :)
maybe if it would fit better in with one of the other posts it can be included in with one of those, depending on available picture slots of course :o

edit: just seen it's 3 posts long in itself - that's not gonna fit in anywhere else :p
well it's fine at the bottom anyway - if it could have a link or two from the above posts where relevant that would be nice, I will link it from the news later on when I'm not 15 minutes late for work already  :D

Err, I thought I'd mentioned it, got me wondering now ;)

Anyways, here's me: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userpage&teamnum=10&username=Oli
welcome to the team :)

the reason you didn't get a mention in the news as a new user is that at 17:45 on Thursday when I saved the stats page you hadn't had a WU credited yet - there are 5 others who just missed out too but at least you'll have a good run at making a record number of stomps before next week's news

oh and it's not necessary to tell anyone you've joined - when I write the news I have to find all the new members before I can calculate what everyone else has done during the week, unless I find you but forget to add you to the news post of course :p

check at the start of the log for each client and just check for something like the following...

Project: 2504 (Run 3, Clone 11, Gen 14)

as long as at least one of those numbers is different between the two clients then it's a different (but similar) WU

start him off again?

i never rammed it down your throat.

The delivery van couldnt find our house, infact, most companys cant, royal mail and citylink are the 2 that only rarely get lost.

Besides its here now and its goooooood. :)
lol sorry I was just messing :D

glad you finally got it anyway - I used to have the same problem getting stuff delivered to my parent's house, also the same problem with the salloooon (though not the RS6 variety) :p

edit: the best place for carrying something large in my car is on the passenger seat - usually making it impossible to get the gear stick far enough over to engage reverse :o

Whitestar is LigerZero on the team and he's got his school computers on it - helps that he's the IT guy there though :p

With an active CPU count of 107 in the last 7 days he's the man! :D

I think DarkendViper also works at a school - hmmm maybe it's time I got a change of career :o

can't you just set a maximum temperature in the bios????

i'm pretty sure most motherboards will let you set temperatures beyond which the system will shut down - otherwise I'm sure you can find a software solution based on temperature monitoring

Are they?
Cheapest i can find is £40
OcUK were doing them very cheap a while ago - not sure if they still are though :(

edit: nope they are back to full price now - it was quite some time ago
if my memory is correct then it was the 500VA one and was only around £20 - definately a bargain

Another 56 pointer... that must be about the 7th one in a row now. Why on earth are we getting so many of these?
it will be due to the number of servers currently gone down, at least these small WUs will be in almost limitless quantities until the nicer work comes back since as soon as each one is returned a whole load more can be produced if required

PPD-wise they don't seem too bad on my GF's machine (XP1700@2100MHz) getting between 100-110 PPD

If you're really sick of them reconfigure to allow deadlineless work and see if you can get some 240ish point Tinkers as they usually go down pretty well :)

you need to get yourself on the beta team - tasty WUs a plenty

application is via the folding forums which seem to have gone down a few minutes ago
seems to be back up for now - fingers crossed :p

read this thread and ask yourself if you can contribute and understand you'll get rubbish work sometimes - then write something good without mentioning the lust for points and wait'n'see :)

It's not a closed group - just kept out of the way of general public to keep the place a bit more tidy :)

edit: hmm I've just realised that there are quite a few applications seemingly not dealt with for the last month or so - some mention of systems testing and involvement with other beta testing might not go amiss - if you've done them of course :p

I just read on the extreme overclocking site that the russians are a total of about 7 hours from overtaking us which will demote us into 51st place! that 2 places lost in a week!
what are you going on about? :p :D

we are currently in 48th and have been for quite some time (since we stomped the last lot of slackers), when the russians catch up with us sometime in the next 2-3hrs we will then be 49th

the confusion comes if you include the two "aggregate teams" of google and team 0 (no team allocation) which puts us in 50th now and 51st in a few hours - since these two "teams" aren't made up of people choosing to compete in groups as such they are not counted in most of the stats

shame the ruskies have almost got us :(
though we definately did put up a decent last-minute fight :)

edit: stats as of last update at Stanford

Code:
48th 10 OcUK 16,059,255 147,454
49th 47191 TSC! Russia 16,054,198 109,602
we might just survive the next hourly update but it'll be very close if so

Well were still hanging on.
Code:
48 10 OcUK 16060280 147460
49 TSC! Russia 16056637 109617

Lets see if we can hold on for another hour.
We held it for another hour

Code:
48 10 OcUK 16062331 147473
49 47191 TSC! Russia 16061306 109639

but looks like 2 was just too many :o

Code:
48 47191 TSC! Russia 16065371 109653
49 10 OcUK 16063355 147478

looking at last week's EOC team overtake page we managed to hold them off for an extra day - maybe that doesn't seem much but I think it's very good for just one week - it translates to weeks on the medium range and months/years on the long range targets

sucks to lose a position but that should be rectified soon enough :)
