Football Manager 2006 hints and tips needed

Well, thats what they are worth. I bought Rafinha for 16million in actual fact, I knew in a season or two (telling from his stats) that he was gunna be a god, so I sold Andy Jonson on the cheap so I could get him while he was still relatively inexpensive. Messi was bought for 12million as cover, Bastos, Babel and Roncatto are just too good.

How did you get so much money?

Was over the space of two seasons, and Andy Jonson was sold for 15million. Not to mention I sold a lot of dead wood and youth players for the odd 1-2 million. Also my highest wage, even with that squad is only £45,000. 13million tv money and about 10 million for the premiership title (i think it's about that). And Cyrstal Palace are very generous with transfer funds.

I have Riordan, he's an absolute gem. He's a great buy whether you're on a tight budget or not.

Just managed to get Podolski for £7m, hopefully he'll turn out impressively.

Who on earth bought Andy Johnson for £15m?! :p

Man U. He did win european top goalscorer though in my second season. Scored probably 70% of all my goals.

Yeah I started with Ipswich in the Championship and we have no big players to sell, we start with zero in the bank with a zero transfer budget IIRC, plus the bank loan to pay off until 20-twentysomething.

Took me 6 years to win the premiership, Chelsea are extremely good on my game though. Kerlon and Cissé up front for me have been superb. :)

Agh, damn it, does anyone know what the regulations are for obtaining a work permit? Is it something like a certain % of international matches played or something? I've played CM/FM for eons and never known what it is exactly. Got a successful bid in for Rafinha, and got turned down for a work permit, bid again, turned down again. There wasn't even an option to appeal! I thought there used to be one? I'm sure of it...

not too sure on this one but you should definately be able to appeal and some times after the appeal the work permit is ok

I'm a bit poo at at the game but I found these players good enough considering their prices:

Christoffer Haestad - £1m
Kevin Thomson - £275k
Garry O'connor - £325k
Per Ciljan Skjelbred - £875k
Craig Gordon - £200k
Dalibor Stevanovic - £150k
Augustine - £ Free when you start the game
Garry Caldwell - £275k

I bought all these when started season with Sunderland and finished 9th in the league. I'm now 3 or 4 seasons in and bought Cesar Delgado for £10 million and Julius Aghahowa for free. Both are extremely fast and are good for long ball tactic where they can outpace the defenders (not much aerial threat from them though). Also signed Portillo on free but he seems to be underachieving badly. Best buy had to be Alex from Fenerbahce for free guy is exceptional. Also bought Juli Cesar Leon (£ Free - I love expiring contracts) and Panagiotis Lagos (£ You guessed it free) and Latka who's proving to be a good investment (£500k) to plug in the holes when injuries strike.

Just get a editor change their nationality and change it back. In a instant your brazilian will be playing for you!

An alternate way is to give them caps.

If it's anything like FM 2005 then when you change it back to Brazilian he won't be able to play since he won't have a Work Permit.
