Golf Thread

After my SkyTrak+ purchase, from The Complete Golfer, which I must say have been great for service..I managed to use my points from the ST and pay £65 inc. for a four pack of Srixon Z-Star golf balls!

That's a great buy, complete golfer is local to me and they are a great shop

Has anyone Golf membership gone up this year... At our AGM they have put ours up to cover a surplus needed for changes and staff cost by £85.

Mine is now £1300 and it's making me question whether I an off peak membership is more worth while. It does mean that the winter would be almost worthless but most of my time is spent playing in Summer evenings.

We haven't had ours announced yet but I am expecting a rise. I think last year it went up by £100, no doubt they will match that again this year. Don't know why the maintenance isn't hugely better. Our course really needs the bunkers rebuilding they are in shocking state and some are almost unplayable.

Saying that, I'll be headed down today to do some short game work got a free hour to do some work on our range (free) and then on the practice area.

Out for the usual Sunday game, ground was a touch softer than Friday, wind picked up from about the 8th hole onwards though and got rather strong towards the end (forecast was for ~45mph gusts), definitely affecting some shots/club choices.

Played ok, pretty good on the front 9 with 3 pars and 46 overall but got a touch scruffy in the back 9 but got 98 total so 'ok'.

Good to be out playing as always :)

I'm stuck between a rock and hard place atm.
When I'm playing well I play very well, but it's on a knife edge of 3 off the tee or a bunch of duff chips..

I'm practicing and practicing and it's helped but getting to a single figure handicap is bloody hard.

Developed a bit of a hook from trying to hard to punch the ball under the wind.

I think ours will be close to £1900 7 day. It's about the going rate around me.

My renewal for the next season is £590! It is a small course tbf, but still…£1900!
It does encourage me to play at least twice a week to get my moneys worth. At roughly £36 per round it would be cheaper to play 2 rounds a week using golf now, but I don't think I could play Saturday mornings without being a member.

Noticed you're consistently shooting double figures recently, good work.

Thanks :) And yeah, especially on the easier course it almost feels now like I can't shoot 100+ anymore, it's kinda bizarre :p

On course memberships I'm a member at two, one is £975 which renewed in September with a fairly slight increase and the other is £430 which renewed in June with a slight increase as well, think it was £420 last year. Be interesting to see what they go to this year.

Great fun on Saturday. Weather was decent and the roll out from the frost was glorious. Joined up with a random 3 ball and had a great laugh. One poor soul had the worst case of shanks I've ever seen, must have lost 2 balls a hole.

Shot 89 which I'll take every day in these conditions. Hit my first 300+ drive as well. Beautiful low spin draw that flew forever. Proper made the testes fizz that one

Getting to the stage where I feel the need for something like a 5 wood, especially for this time of year. I just can't get my 4 hybrid to carry far enough in the air on those long approaches.

well Cobra UK are simply useless. Cobra/Puma USA have a clear 2 year manufacturing warranty on their website but because in the UK Cobra is only Wholesale Based they have different rules.

American Golf need clarification from Cobra that I should send my club back to them but Cobra UK aren't willing to provide that.

So stuck in limbo but appears I need to purchase a new hybrid :(

I went for a fitting at AG about 6mths ago, was specced 0.5" longer and 2deg up. I didnt go ahead with anything and packed the clubs back in the shed, I am now taking lessons and I spoke with my instructor and he was a bit surprised by that spec so recommended I go again, especially now I have made some decent work towards fixing parts of my swing and setup that I didnt have before. AG just specced me as I was stood which is fair enough I guess.

Can anyone recommend any other fitters, I am in S.London but could travel a bit towards Kent etc if I can get the best service!

Cheers

I got a gift voucher for a full bag fitting for a friend to here. His YT is very informative as well.

Thank you. Will check that out. Full bag in 3h30m seems pretty intense hah.
Might be worth checking out the new PXG fitting centre.
Thanks for the recommendation. £50 for a full bag is pretty fair.
