Going to be toasty out today. Who's getting out for an evening round?
Going out for 9 later tonight, signed my son up to the opengolf thing so we can both get handicaps, mine came through a few rounds back at 22.5. Got it down to 19.8 now.

Had 9 holes a couple of rounds back where I shot 41 with a 6 on the first and the ninth. My short game was on fire as my tee game was ropey but I was getting up and down most times.

Played 18 a couple of days back and shot 91, my short game wasn't as hot this time but my 3 wood off the tee was on fire.

Playing with a slightly shorter back swing is starting to feel more natural now which I think is improving control. I also got some 2nd hand Ping Glide 2 wedges and the 52 degree one I am mostly using is a very easy to use club so I've a lot of confidence with it and have my range with it mostly worked out. My weight distribution is also feeling better now as well.

Not today but will be out in the thick of it tomorrow, 10:38 tee time for an interesting WRU.

Team stableford where you have to play six from the whites, six from yellows and six from red. 100% of your HI shot allowance based on the white tees.

Each player can select the tees they play off in any order as long as they play 6 of each. Ladies par/index will apply to the red tees, Gents par/index to white and yellow.

I just got back from a round, through Fore Business I got an invite to a 4-ball at Taunton & Pickeridge GC, first time playing there and actually scored pretty well, 95 (+26, par 69), mostly that came from the 9-over front 9 with 4 pars, my only 4 pars :p

It does get a bit harder on the back 9 it felt like but also think I started to flag a bit because of the heat. It was super hot and even drinking loads I'm really feeling it now. Take care out there guys :)

Good course though, would play again. Gonna try to get out for 9 at Whitley tomorrow in prep for a game on Saturday, 3-man scramble comp.

That sounds pretty fun tbh

just back from the senior open celebrity day...man it was great, John Daly coming down the last hole blaring music from his buggy, half ****** !! weather was glorious too.

back for the final day on sunday, man, really excited for this!!

An interesting team stableford this morning. Don't know what we scored as a team yet, best two scores on each hole count, but we had collective scores of 41 (myself), 36 and 34. My gross stroke play score was 90 and I definitely left a few points out on the course.

Due to the differing SI between the ladies and gents tee's it was possible to get a bonus shot if you played your tees strategically. This was the very reachable par 5 12th giving me two shots from the ladies tee. Unfortunately I immediately squandered this by hitting my drive OB left :p. Ended up with a sloppy eight after a **** poor 8i from 150y failed to find the green. My other poor hole on the back nine was making six on the par 4 17th after my tee shot left me with just a wedge in to the green. It is a trickier one with two tiers front and back plus a spine down the middle but I made a right hash to four putt from the right fringe.

On the front nine my only blemish was the par 5 8th (540y). Driver, 6i usually gets me to the corner of the dog leg but I came up short 10/15y after a very thin 6i. Stupidly tried to air mail an 8i over the trees, wasn't even close! Had to bunt out sideways with my forth. Still had three shots to get a point but a poor wedge that came up short and then three put left me pointless. A shame as I'd earlier made a nice escape at the par 3 6th. 160y over a lake and put my tee shot in it for the third round in a row. Then got up and down from 110y for a four! This was our worst team hole too as I was the only one to register any points.

All in I should have scored around 5pts more. I wouldn't be surprised to see someone post an individual score in the 50's. Conditions were certainly favourable today despite the heat although it didn't feel quite as hot as I was anticipating.

Edit: Points break down by tee's
Reds 15
Yellows 11
Whites 15

Edit 2:
Winning team score was 117. We were 5/8 with 111. Winning score works out to an average 39pts per person and 6.5pts per hole. Annoyingly the best individual score was 42pts obtained by two players, so without one of my mistakes at the 12th or 17th I could have taken those honours and got my entry fee back!

Had a round with my mates last night, something clicked with my release. Shot an 80 (4 under handicap) and annoyingly still left some shots out there. 6 over on the front 4 on the back. Hopefully that will continue tomorrow! Ordered my GT3 driver with my pro as well, so I'll have a new toy in the next few weeks.

So after starting to play my best golf so far, the golf god's decided to bring me right back down last night.

Went out for 9 and the first 6 holes were the worst I've ever played. Me back when I first picked up a set of clubs a few years ago would have hammered the current me. Didn't really bother keeping a note of the score but I probably didn't shoot anything less than a 7 on the first 6, then had 3 very tidy pars to finish it off - I still stand that this is a stupid game.

The ground at the course we played had to be some of the weirdest I've ever played on. The ground wasn't necessarily firm but the number of times I ended up dropping my club after the contact with the ball was ridiculous - you could take a divot but loads of it was still attached to the ground so your club basically stopped dead and your hands kept going. Then there were other parts were it was almost like it was just 'grass' painted on top of sand and end up getting right underneath the ball. Not really tempting us to play it often...

Been working hard on my swing for the last few months:
Getting to see some decent scores, keeping the ball in play more. Changed technique on my short game, as well as taking some power off my driver and keeping it down the middle has brought up my average distance over a round.

Went on a golf trip/holiday, where we played 2 rounds a day for 3 days, with buggies and an hour travel between each course, around West Wales. They are all reciprocal courses, so get to play them for free once a year with my current club membership. Paid for buggies and some airbnb's and had a great time!
Handicap is down to 13.3 from 17 this time last year and have just passed my 3rd anniversary/year of playing golf. The end year goal was 12-14, so I'm in the window right now. Just gotta see if I can hold it there over the rest of the season, and perhaps some more progression would be nice!

Friday golf time, still kinda warm :p

Main round was at Tracy Park near Bath, we played it back in April and it wasn't amazing, the fariways/rough were very long as they clearly had issues mowing over the winter but I enjoyed the course but it was quite hard. They recently announced that they have been bought and will be closing at the end of September so decided to go back to play it in 'proper' condition.

It was pretty good, but a very tough course compared to what I usually play... I also had a bunch of holes towards the end where I forgot how to hit a golf ball, lost a bunch of golf balls and racked up some high numbers so didn't break 100 :( Good bit though was 'only' 37 putts, think I mentioned recently had a bunch of >40 putt rounds and now seem consistently back into the 30's so that's so nice :p

Then back to the local course for the Friday roll-up, played really solidly for 7 holes then had 2 blobs. Crazy bit was I sunk 3 looooong putts, like 20-25 feet putts right in the middle, the last one of those and the last scoring hole was for a gross birdie, net eagle/hio and 4 points :D Total was 17 points

Had a total blow up in this mornings medal, 14 over by the end of the 6th hole. (playing handicap 13) Birdied the 7th (Par 4) then parred out the front 9. Back 9 came in 5 over. For an 88 net 75. 85 on MyEG, may even get a cut tomorrow.
