Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

I've noticed that this comparison site does give input lag numbers which contradict other reviews for various monitors.

It doesn’t add up, the ViewSonic is rated lower response time than the Hanns-G yet is about 4x worse according to there tests

Deffinalty something is up there.

Does anyone know whether PS3s support 16:10? I don't want it to stretch the image, that will not look good.

Nope. PS3's don't support 16:10, the picture will be stretched. There's a lot of doubt as to whether they ever will, which sucks. If MS implement it, Sony would be wise to follow suit imo.

I would seriously consider trading my 40gb PS3 for a 360 if they do get 16:10 support, but I'd be worried about RROD.

I've played 360 on mine for a bit longer now, and to be honest I don't think I can be arsed with the hassle returning this. Yes it does stretch, but I can live with it. Whats puzzling me more is the fact my HDMI cable only allows 480p, think it might be something wrong with the cable to be honest.

Thinking of getting the VGA cable for my 360. Does the 360 recognise its VGA and automatically allow the choise of resolution? Because I am currently using component->vga adapter -> monitor and it doesn't allow me to choose resolution.

Also, MS ARE giving 16:10 support in the autumn, they announced at their summer conference. Not up to 1920x1200, but the resolutions below that. Which should be fine as no 360 games are actually done in 1080p?

please tell me this monitor is good for the pc i went and orderd one i just use my pc for gaming and watching high def films i havbe 2 22 inch monitors...

I just ordered one of these babies. I'm going from a 19inch CRT so I presume its gonna be massive to me.

Decent price too!

[EDIT] - Will my 8800GTX be good enough for 1900 x 1200?

Well mine has arrived today. Great monitor. Nice and big had a quick go of TF2 and it looks stunning for the price.

Good stand and the adjustments for the monitor are also very very good.

Looks the part I took a quick snap on my phone

Are any owners of this monitor here sim racers?

If so please load up a sim with a visible steering wheel and gauge the real world input lag by moving the wheel back and forth to see how 'out of sync' it might be.

Vertical sync should be off to get the best result from this test.

As an example on my CRT I get virtually zero lag doing this. My brother's cheap LCD is almost half a turn behind when see-sawing the wheel quite quickly.

banja, i race in a f1 league at www.virtualmotorsport.net and i can tell you this monitor is amazing for sim racing i dont experience any input lag at all, if there is some its not noticable to the eye

Hi there

This monitor has now passed sales of any other monitor we sell, its simply flying and people are loving it. Our sales are that good Hanns-G are starting to struggle to keep up. As many have mentioned for the price its simply amazing value for money. :)

Thanks for the reply :) Do you actually have a visible steering wheel on screen?? Is there actually no lag when you match it up with your real wheel? Any chance of a small movie? :)

I really want this monitor for the larger screen. But I'm also looking at the Iiyama ProLite E2403WS and the BenQ G2400W as they both offer extremely low input lag. I couldn't really care less about colours, viewing angles etc.

I just got one of these and it's great, but I can only get it to work using the VGA so far, when I try the HDMI to DVI, it just says no input detected...

any ideas? It's with a 4850

maybe you need driver updates for ati cards? with my nvidia 8800 it is just plug and play with the latest drivers

Here are two tips copied from another forum. Not sure if they had the same issue exactly as you though.

I right-clicked on the desktop and went into:
/Display properties/settings/advanced/troubleshoot/hardware acceleration.
And pulled the control left a little below 100%. This fixed the video so it works.
I guess my video card was running out of memory for acceleration, since this display has so many pixels at 1920x1200 ?

I had a lot of trouble getting it to take a HDMI digital input. Im pretty sure this was fixed in \display props\ by going to \settings\advanced\ATI Displays\ and making sure the "FPD" flat panel icon had a green left corner (ON). I think this turns on the DVI output of my ATI video card.
