Hanns-G HG281DP 28" Widescreen Any good, really??

well when I got home I ended up lowering the res a bit and just like magic it picked the screen up with hdmi - dvi. I was then able to put the res back up to 1920x1200 with no issues, so the screen is looking great now :)

those with the screen that have consoles connected does it look better to use the vga with a 360 or straight via hdmi ?

as i'm rather tempted to buy it, but i have a 22" monitor which does the job though

Mine arrived yesterday.

Bright out of the box as mentioned by others so lowered brightness and contrast to acceptable levels.

Was almost put off by some of the negatives mentioned on this forum about black levels and viewing angles.

Both seem fine to me but then again i wont be looking at it from the ceiling or measuring black levels.;)

How black is black anyway?

I would buy another one of these monitors in a heartbeat, if there was space on my desk for it lol....

I am so tempted in getting this screen but I am just put off the fact its Hanns-g and I just assume its a too cheap screen. can ppl that have it 100% say its perfect for games? as the comparison site says it hasmax 27ms input lag which i belive isok for fps gaming right ??

Can anyone put my mind at rest as I hear bad things about consoles etc but i want it for films and fps gaming (and want as little lag as possible)

I have the HD4870x so can easily power the high resolution. but i also sit approx 2ft away from the screen so will this be ok ?

Hi, I can only give my views on this monitor but I did go from a 19Inch Iiyama Vision Master which was nice, for me this Hanns-G has a good sharp picture and I have noticed no input lag what so ever. I havn't noticed much differance from my CRT really apart from the huge size and sharp picture!

I was worried about input lag etc but for me at least it perfect

I saw this screen in a local PC store today and man it looked HUGE. Had good stand adjustments and picture quality looked fine on the demo Vista machine. Viewing angles were as you'd expect from a mid range screen.

For <£300 though bargain!

has anyone got a freeview box or hd receiver connected to the monitor ? as i wonder what the picture quality is like for tv channels as its so tempting to order one of these

I've had this monitor for the best part of a week now and now it's set up properly I am delighted with it. no dead pixel, doesnt look cheap like I anticipated, picture quality is more than good enough for me and best of all...its huge :D

What games are you going to play on it? First Person Shooters are the real test. Let us know what you think of lag and ghosting please :)

Sim racing is also a good test. If input lag is too high, your car will handle in nasty ways.

I've so far heard good things about the lag for this monitor, but have only seen figures from one actual test. I'd like to see a proper test from an actual user, rather than just opinions which give a 'feel' for it, which is what the positive opinions I've read have generally been.

I keep deciding to buy, then I change my mind in favour of the Iiyama ProLite E2403W, which is known to have extremely low lag and is a similar price ('only' 24 inch screen though)

The screen is 1920x1200 so it's no going to have any trouble with games on a decent gfx card really

is there some sort of program you can run to test monitors? If so, point one out to me and I'll happily run it and post the results

Do you have a CRT? You run the two monitors together in clone mode (whatever that is)

You run a stopwatch on screen, then take pictures with a half decent camera. Do at least ten shots. Compare the delay of the LCD to the CRT. Give min, max and average results :)

The pixels, I can tell from seeing a lot of pixels in my time :d but seriously, the resolution is too large for 28" - it's great for gaming and movies BUT for desktop usage looks like someone has set the resolution wrong and it needs to be taken up a notch.

are you sure :D
